"Aunt Alice, come play with me!" Renesmee called from the pit of plastic multicolored balls she was waist deep in.
Alice and Jasper had taken Renesmee out for the day to make up for the month they had spent in South America looking for the other half vampires. It was now early April, and Renesmee was growing to be around nine right now, but in a month, she would look eleven, no doubt. Her rapid growth meant she had much less time to do little kid things, like play in ball pits for example.
"Okay, Ren, I'm coming!" Alice called back gleefully, smiling. She blended right in with the ten or so human children (and Renesmee) who were in the ball pit, seeing as she was no more than an inch or two tall than most of them. Even Renesmee was taller than her now, which made her subject to many of Emmett's jokes at her expense. Alice didn't mind however, she was just glad that they were all still alive and together again.
Alice sank into the balls, which were deeper than they looked. She was covered from bottom to the middle of her stomach, and could totally cover herself if she wanted to. They expected human children to play in this? It seemed like a death trap for them!
"Jasper, you'd better get in here!" Alice called to her husband, who was standing behind the mess walling around the pit, laughing at his niece and wife.
"Aw come on Jasper, don't make me chase you and drag you in here, because you know I will!" Alice called when she 'saw' what Jasper was going to do.
"Is that a challenge?" Jasper asked, his eyes slightly glowing with life.
"Yeah, and I swear, you'll be really embarrassed in front of all these children if I drag you in here!" Alice called throwing a ball at him, which only bounced off the netting.
"We'll see about that." Jasper said, then took off at a human pace, trying not to run into any kids.
"Jasper!" Alice called, trying to get out of the ball pit, "Not fair! I'm totally bogged down in balls!" She pulled herself amidst the balls, wondering who decided to fill pits with balls and have children run into them and play any ways.
"Renesmee, your uncle is a cheater!" Alice called to Renesmee as she was getting out.
"I'm coming to help you get him!" Renesmee told her, laughing. Her laugh made her entire face light up like some one had turned on a light, her eyes shinning and dimples showing. Alice had to smile herself.
"There is no way he can hide from both of us." Alice told her as they too ran at an annoyingly slow human run, dodging people and tables as they went.
Alice saw Jasper after only a minute, the chase being quit easy for her with her vampire and future sight, but catching him without breaking into a vampire run was much harder than she would think. How do humans even do it? It's torture not being able to go fast at all!
Suddenly, Jasper was out of her vision, and she and Renesmee were left to look frantically to where he had gone.
Alice barely caught a glance of him coming up behind her before he wrapped his strong, hard arms around her and lifted her up to his height, kissing her on the lips.
"If you wanted a kiss," Alice said once the broke apart, "You didn't have to make me chase you."
"It was more fun that way." Jasper told her, still holding her up.
Alice laughed, and buried her face into his rock hard chest. There was nothing to worry about any more, she was here, Jasper was here, and no one was in mortal danger. That was all that mattered.
