It all started with a question, a simple question that shouldn't have been the key to unlock all these pent up feelings. It was a normal question, a normal unsuspecting question, but Sean Cameron took it seriously. Too seriously.
"What is your favorite color?" J.T and Toby asked him this question during the first day of classes their second year. It was one of those get to know you games, where you walk around the room asking questions to people in hopes of having something in common with them. So of course they asked him one of the simplest questions on the paper.
Sean stood there for a while, pondering his answer as if it was the choice between life and death. The duo sat staring at him for a minute, glancing at each other every now and then. Finally, Toby poked the dazed teen in the chest, causing him to become alert. Sighing, Sean looked towards Emma, who was talking to Manny, and answered the question.
"I have many favorite colors." The answer was simple, and the two other teenage boys looked at him as if he was a moron. Toby slapped J.T in the chest, and J.T asked again.
"What is your favorite color, Sean? Come on man, its not that hard."
Sean looked at his two "friend" and sighed.
"Fine you asked for it." Sean took a deep breathe and spoke.
"My favorite color is brown, a deep brown that seems to fade into a golden color, with little tiny flecks of green if you look hard enough. Then a nice yellow, that when hit by the sun turns into a brilliant gold color. The one that makes everyone stare as the sunlight plays on top of it. It goes good with a nice bronze color, an even tan that brings out the brown and the golden yellow. One that seems to glow."
Sean looked over at Emma halfway through his speech, analyzing what she was wearing. Before he even had a chance to continue, Toby followed his stare and slapped him in the chest.
"Are you just describing Emma? Come one dude, she can't even hear you." Toby was slightly peeved. He knew that Emma and Sean had had a thing last year, despite his feelings for her. Truth be told, Toby wasn't fully over the bitter sting of being rejected by her, and the fact that the guy who stole her from him was being all cutesy about her wasn't helping.
The tall teen looked down at Isaacs, and smirked. "Man, it doesn't matter if she can hear… I can't help it." He sighed and looked over to the blonde girl, who was obviously to this entire conversation.
Toby glared at him, and turned, making his way over to Manny and Emma. J.T smiled awkwardly, apologizing for his friends obvious jealous, and backed away.
Sean looked down at the questionnaire in from of him, then back up at the blonde he had spent ten minutes focusing on, letting a small smile pass over his lips. He stared at her as she wrote something about Toby down, and then looked his way, only to meet his gaze. She looked at him blankly, and then smiled.
He grinned widely as she waved him over, realizing that this was his second chance. That this year, he wasn't going to mess things up like he had last year. She met him half way, holding the questionnaire up to him, before asking, "So Sean, what's your favorite color."
