Never Too Late

By: Raela Maxine Winchester Ride

Prologue: Max's POV

I slowly opened my eyes as the fire raged around us and the blood running down my neck. I looked around to see that we were trapped under the black 1967 Chevy Impala we stole from Jeb three days ago. I looked over at Fang, who was right next to me, to see that his eyes were close and had blood coming from his head. "Fang," I mouthed as memories of him almost dying filled my head. When Ari nearly killed him twice. The most recent was worse. Fang had to actually go to the hospital and I had to give him two pints of blood. And now, he wouldn't see his daughter anymore. My- Well, OUR daughter, Raela, was with my mom and Ella. I saw his eyes twitch and relief filled through my whole body. "Fang? Please wake up." I said as tears filled my eyes. Sure enough, his eyes opened. "Max? Is that you?" he said weakly. I took his hand and nodded. "I'm here." I answered. I started crying but very lightly. I looked at Nudge, Gazzy, and Iggy. Angel was nowhere to be found. That was when I cried harder and looked away. Fang looked at me and squeezed my hand. I looked into his eyes hoping for answers but found none. Or so I thought… He was looking past me at a truck coming full speed at us. I squeezed his hand as the truck hit us.
