A/N: This is my first attempt at a HG/SS story. It's based on the song "When You Say Nothing At All" by Alison Krauss. Please leave a review; reviews make me smile.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
As I dance with Viktor, I feel someone watching me. I know who it is, and I enjoy it. He is a man, dark and intelligent. Little does he know, I want him, too.
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
He actually smiles as he watches me. I mentally encourage him to cut in as I return with my own smile
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
Gracefully, he maneuvers through the sea of dancing witches and wizards. Our eyes are locked. He taps Viktor's shoulder; they bow; Viktor leaves the floor. I curtsy to his bow.
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
A shock shoots through my spine. We begin the waltz.
You say it best when you say nothing at all
As I look beyond his eyes, deep and near black, I see the love being repressed—wishing we could act on it.
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
The next day, after potions, I stay behind. I face him. He brushes away hair that has fallen to cover my left eye and cheek.
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
I can't even begin to explain this. How can I describe something I've never read about? I pour over magic and muggle books. Nowhere do I see any explanation that tells me what to do in this situation.
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
As the year goes on, our interactions become more intimate without crossing the line. I know we both want to. But he's a professor; I'm still his student. But that never matter when we're alone.
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
We are alone in the Great Hall after a Defense lesson (the normal professor is ill). Without speaking, he waves his wand and a waltz strikes up. He pulls me close as we intimately repeat our first dance.
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
A genuine smile appears on his lips; he tightens his grasp on me. He's strong and unique. I lose myself in the moment.
You say it best when you say nothing at all
There is love in his eyes and actions. When the time is right, we will have our moment; until then, it is best to say nothing at all.
