AN: This is the updated version of this story. For those who liked the original thanks for staying faithful and hope this one's better. The updates won't be regular and if you want to know why read my profile. Currently I have no beta so if you want to help send me a PM.
Disclaimer: I do not in any way shape or form own Harry Potter or Labyrinth. They belong to the wonderful J.K Rowling and the gentlemen Jim Henson and Brian Froud.
Prologue
31st October 1981
Thunder and lightning clashed in the sky , illuminating the small village of Godrics Hollow on this cold dreary All Hallowed night. In one particular house, the inhabitants were on guard, for there world was at war and the Dark Lord had set his eyes on them. One of them was a beautiful red headed women, with dazzling emerald green eyes, standing next to her was a man with messy black hair and hazel eyes covered by thin, wire rimmed glasses. The ladies face was scrunched up with worry.
"James, I, I have a bad feeling, like something's wrong. What if something has happened to Peter, what if he found him?", she choked out, as her body trembled with silent sobs as she let go of her pent up emotions. James just stepped in front of her and held her in his arms, cradling his young wife.
"It's okay, Lily, I got you, everything's going to be alright. I promise.", he whispered to her soothingly.
"But what if it's not James? Look what happened to poor Marlene and her family! She was from a prominent pure blood line, her home was suppose to be protected too! Jazzie says her little brother is still comatose in St Mungos and little Rosie, she's lucky she's alive! If his followers can do that to children, then what chance do we stand with You-Know-Who targetting Harry over a stupid prophecy!", she wailed to her husband.
"Shh I got you Lily-flower, I know what happened to Marlene hit you hard but she wasn't under the fidelius like us. I trust Peter and Sirius is checking on him today, you know he would do anything to protect his godson."
Her trembling did not cease, but she allowed her husband to just hold her. They stood there in relative silence, neither of them willing to break it.
"I love you.", he whispered, whilst placing a soft kiss on her brow.
"Both of you, I love you both so much. You're the most important things in the world to me and I would do anything to protect you. I know you've been worried my love, but we will get through this.".
Lily was about to reply when they heard a noise outside. They froze.
"James?" Lily turned terrified, questioning eyes up to her husband. He just stood there, staring at the door blankly whilst slowly backing lily up to the stairs. Suddenly, there was a bang. All the colour drained from their faces.
"He's here", gasped James. He spun around and looked at Lily with frantic eyes. Behind them they could faintly see a dark figure looming behind their door, lit up briefly by the lightning raging in the storm.
"Lily, take Harry and go! It's him! Go! Run! I'll hold him off."
Lily stumbled up the stairs, with one last look at her beloved husband. Frantically she barged in the nursery and grabbed Harry from his crib. Downstairs, she heard the door burst open and a cackle of cold, high pitched laughter. She squeezed her eyes shut to fight of the tears that were threatening to fall. A lone tear escaped as the sound of fighting broke loose and she prayed to whatever deity was listening to protect them. Quickly grabbing the emergency Port-Key she said the password, 'haven', and weeped when it failed to work. By now Harry was crying, confused why his mummy was sad and wondering what the loud noises where. In desperation she turned to the door, about to leave and risk going another way.
THUMP
She jumped as the sound of a body dropping could be heard. Holding in her sobs, she backed away from the door when the sounds of the staircase creaking reached her ears. She knew someone was coming and it wasn't James. Now terrified for the life of her only son she quickly threw whatever spells she could at the door to secure it and stumbled backwards, tripping over a small table and knocking of the book on top. Glancing down at the title, she saw the small storybook Jasmine gave her for Harry's birthday, the one her friend wrote herself with the cryptic message 'just in case' written on the first page. Staring at the gold lettering a crazy idea formed in her head and with time running out she had nothing to loose trying it.
With steely determination she placed little Harry in his crib and kissed his forehead.
"I love you, my sweet little boy", she whispered to her precious babe. She straightened up and took a deep breath. With one last mournful look at her baby, she said, "I wish the Goblins would take you away, right now".
Just then, the door burst open.
