A.N. This is my first Kiesha'ra story. I love love Danica/Zane! So it seemed only natural to write FF for them. Also, a little blip in the story. I wrote he brought a knife cuz when I first wrote this I was a noob and didn't think too much. So I'm sorry bout that! Hope you enjoy this story regardless!

This is the first time he saw Danica, when he went to kill her.

Disclaimer: I might own Hawksong, but I don't own it. Duh.

His Angel

It would be easy. So easy. Sneak in. (Ok, that will be a little hard) Find her room. Yup. Go to her bed. Got it. Kill her. Sure thing.

Because someone needed to die today, and Danica seemed the perfect target. Sure, she wasn't the one who killed his brother, but she'd kill someone in the future, and the way Zane saw it, he was just making sure that wouldn't happen. He was doing his people a favor.

His people.

Zane's vision and intentions were clouded by anger. They weren't supposed to be his people. They were supposed to be his older brother's. Or better yet, his father's, or his uncles'. Now they're his.

And now, he was going to kill Danica.

Hey, he's only sixteen, cut the poor boy some slack!

He snuck out to the stables, got his horse, and took the ride of indecision.

Should I kill her?

Yes.

But she didn't do anything!

So? She will. And it's her birthday. Your brother died on her birthday.

Doesn't that mean I shouldn't kill her?

Just do it.

But -

Do it! She gave you a burden you shouldn't have!

Oh yeah.

Besides, it's to late to turn back now. You're at the Keep.

He dismounted and found a way into the castle.

Damn it.

How was he supposed to get higher? Fly? Ha!

Zane was too busy looking for a way to get up he didn't notice the guards coming. He ran to the shadows, heart racing. One of them had caught a glimpse of him.

"Hey, did you see something?" One of the guards asked.

"I think so." They walked slowly towards him, but he had just found his way up. He jumped up and, as strange as it seems, started to climb.

Whew. Dodged an arrow.

He was in luck. The door was unlocked.

Zane couldn't see what she looked like, just a ball of person on a bed. But then he got to her bedside.

Gods. Gods Gods Gods.

How was he supposed to kill this? He'd never killed before, and killing such beauty should be a sin. Zane dropped his knife. And he stared at this girl, no, this god before him. Maybe it was an overstatement. But you weren't there. You didn't see her the way he saw her.

He reached out to touch her. She had hypnotized him. Usually, you get hypnotized by the eyes. But hers were closed. And her body was enough. And her beauty.

His hand grazed her cheek for a second, but she cried out and turned in her sleep. At first, he thought she had woken, but she was still asleep. It was a nightmare. He noticed her cuts. This angel had been in a fight? Had to suffer through nightmares?

And Zane couldn't kill her. He had something else in mind.

He wanted to hold her.

To hold her.

Hold her.

She didn't deserve to die, or to be killed. She deserved to be held.

And he would've done it. But she already pulled away from him, and he didn't want her to do it to him again.

So he left her.

Left Hawk's Keep.

Left the angel.

Left Danica.

Zane snapped out of his musings. He looked down at Danica, who had just witnessed him crying. And she comforted him, all right.

Zane didn't think this day would come. He thought Danica would never come to love him, never willingly touch him, not for show.

But here she was. In his arms.

He was holding her. And she wanted to be held. Zane grinned and kissed her hair.

She didn't pull away from him. He held her tighter.

She used to be 'The Angel'.

But now she was 'His Angel'.
