String of Laughter

It was a beautiful sound. Melodic. It spun in the air and weaved around the room, locating a forlorn looking Logan. He looked up sharply, scanning for the source. Once again it found itself into his ear.

"'The hell is that coming from?" He furrowed his dark eyebrows as he scanned the room.

Once more the sound rang, entwined with the clinking of glasses, humming voices, and jazzy music. It was beautiful. Soft, breathy, edgy. Something in the laugh made the hairs on Logan's neck stand up. He nearly lept off of the stool to search for the source, but merely wobbled in place. He toyed with a lemon, ducking his head as he focused on the sound.

Logan shook his head when a smoky chuckle invaded his mind. That wasn't it, that wasn't the sound. Where was the precious sound?

It looped in and out seamlessly, around packed and writhing bodies, like a string in a perfectly knit blanket, and towards Logan. The thought made Mike chuckle to himself. "So that's what a string of laughter sounds like, huh?" he said softly as he turned back to his drink.
