Author's note: There had to be a first time when Sam came to the rescue. This is it.
Disclaimer: Supernatural is my obsession but not my possession.
Word count: 100 (I had to kill my darlings for this one, oh, how it hurts!)
On a birthday note: EO drabble challenge, the word was "steady". It was also to be a little something for Woodburner's birthday. The preferred dish was of Dean in peril and Sam to the rescue, with a side order of brotherly bonding.
Cutting Ties and Building Bonds
Sam lurks outside the basement window. His father and brother are inside, tied up, being battered by rough men. Sam is only 13 and he flinches with the punches. He isn't supposed to be here, but… blame the family genes. Finally the beatings stop and three of the men leave. Then, knife held steady, Sam cracks the window open. As he silently approaches his family, face tear-stricken but intent, his father looks utterly surprised. But when Dean sees him his bruised face lights up in relief. His father isn't expecting him but his brother is. Sam cuts Dean loose first.
