I don't own Kim Possible.
29, 000 Feet and Not One Inch Closer
She'd made it. Alone.
She was cold and tired. Her backpack cut into her shoulders despite the heavy layers between her skin and the straps and she knew she still had to make the trip down. But she'd done something not many could say they have; she made it to the top. As promised.
She didn't smile in triumph. She didn't smirk at her accomplishment. She just looked around, expressionless, emotionless. She felt nothing but the numb ache in her chest and the burn in her throat that she'd become so accustomed to over the passed few months.
She took in every detail; the crisp wind against her skin, the perfect, untouched white of the snow, the field of clouds below her, the 'scape of mountains before, beside and behind her. Then she turned her emerald gaze up to the breathtaking blue of the sky. And she took a breath.
It truly was beautiful. Just as her lover hoped it would be.
She blinked slowly, a single tear snaking a hot, lazy path down her cheek before dripping from her jaw. She made no move to stop it or wipe it away. She felt it belonged there; deserved to be there just as much as she deserved to be standing on the top of that mountain. Alone.
She was alone.
"If I don't make it back, I want you to promise me one thing. Promise me you'll climb to the top of Mount Everest and just…I just want you see it. For me. In case I can't. Promise me."
"Oh, come on, Kimmie. You'll make it back. No one's been able to touch you yet. What makes you think they'll start now?"
