FASH: The Canadian Tulip Festival just ended, and it makes me want to write something that at least mentions Netherlands, even though we haven't seen him clearly yet.

Something strange was going on.

Canada had come down to visit him, he'd mistaken him as his brother again, and Canada had forgiven him, that was all normal. What wasn't normal was the dreamy look the blonde had on his face during the usual ordeal. Normally he was more skittish when he was confused for his brother.

"Has something good happened to you lately?" Cuba asked as the other nation sprawled himself out on a beach chair beside him. Canada turned to him with a grin.

"Well, you know how I just had my annual Tulip Festival, eh?" Canada asked and Cuba nodded, he'd heard Canada mentioning something about tulips before.

"This year during the festival Netherlands came to visit! I'd been looking over the tulips we'd received from the Royal Family and the Dutch Bulb Growers Association and when I turned around he was standing right behind me!"

"Oh?" For some reason, the obvious excitement that Canada felt upon seeing Netherlands made his eyebrow twitch. "How many tulips over all do you get from the Netherlands for that festival?"

"Twenty thousand."

Man, that would work out to be a lot of bouquets.

"So, you and Netherlands are good friends then?" Cuba chomped down on the end of his cigar, trying to think up a face to go with the country's name without luck.

Dutch people tended to be tall though, so he was probably around the same height as Russia, and he was probably fair haired and skinned like so many of the other Europeans.

"Of course we are, he's my other best friend! We've been buddies ever since June 1940, and we became even closer on January 19, 1943 and May 5, 1945. We even have matching statues in Ottawa and Apeldoorn to symbolically link us as being close friends forever."

"That's... Nice."

He shouldn't be feeling jealous right now, he knew that Canada had friends other than him, so why was he starting to harbour anger against someone he had never even met before?

"And best of all..." Canada continued with a dreamy sigh. "Netherlands always remembers who I am."

Cuba flinched a little at that, even though he knew Canada hadn't mentioned it to make comparisons.

"Do you meet up with him often?"

"Not nearly as much as I do with you." Canada replied, which made Cuba feel a lot better for some reason.

"Someday we should all hang out together, I'm sure it would be really fun."

Cuba opened his mouth, intent on creating a clever excuse that would keep him from meeting up with Canada's other best friend, but found that he couldn't think of anything with Canada's hopeful stare pinned on him. And far be it from him to go out of his way to shatter the other nation's hopes and dreams.

"Sure, that sounds like a great idea."
