Macbeth:

A Long Time Ago in a Land Far, Far Away

As Told by E. G. Desso

Act One, Scene Two

(Enter Palpatine, Yoda, Mace Windu)

Palpatine: What news do you bring? Good, I hope.

Yoda: Good, it is. From the battlefield this Jedi comes. (To Mace Windu) Your story tell him.

Mace Windu: I bring news of victory, Chancellor. All of the Jedis, as well as the clones, have fought hard and bravely. You would have been proud, had you seen them yourself. None fought better, though, than Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi. They were merciless, taking no prisoners as they wielded their light sabers like weapons of mass destruction.

Palpatine: This news pleases me greatly.

Mace Windu: Count Dooku launched an impressive counter-attack, but he was still no match for our troops. Anakin and Obi Wan held strong and eventually Dooku surrendered. That is the story of our victory.

Palpatine: Thank you. You have done well. Go rest and regain your strength. You will be rewarded well for your efforts.

(Mace Windu exits. Enter Kit Fisto.)

Kit Fisto: Chancellor, I come bearing grave news. I come from the Jedi Temple, where it was reported that General Grievous has assembled a droid army. He has them stationed on Tatooine and plans to attack soon.

Palpatine: Send Skywalker and Kenobi to Tatooine with the remaining troops to set up a counter-attack. Go.

Kit Fisto: Yes, Chancellor.

Palpatine: Wait. Let them know that everything that is won from General Grievous shall be given to Skywalker.

Kit Fisto: As you wish, Chancellor.

(They exit.)

Act Two, Scene Four

(Enter Palpatine, Yoda)

Palpatine: Have Anakin and Obi Wan returned from Tatooine? Is General Grievous disposed of?

Yoda: Returned they have not. Though spoken to a Jedi I have. Dead is Grievous, he said. Confessed to his wrong doings, Grievous did. Apologized he did. Not so bad after all, is he?

Palpatine: No. I trusted him very much; it is sad to see him go. But it isn't always easy, the things that must be done.

(Enter Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi.)

Palpatine: How good to see you both. I have waited a long time to repay my gratitude to you. Skywalker, you skills in battle have pleased me greatly. I trust you received my gift?

Skywalker: Yes, Chancellor. Thank you very much.

Palpatine: No, thank you. And you, Obi Wan Kenobi – without you victory would not have been ours. Your knowledge of the force is surpassed by no one. You services are greatly appreciated.

Kenobi: Thank you, Chancellor.

Palpatine: Oh! I have more great news. I have named the Vice-Chancellor: Master Yoda.

Kenobi: Congratulations. You will do very well together.

(Palpatine, Yoda, and Kenobi exit.)

Skywalker: That position was mine! How dare he! Well, if he won't give it to me, I'll just have to get it myself.

(Skywalker exits.)
