"So, Haji, what'cha doin'?" Saya asked, moving to sit beside him on the hay. She'd found him in the barn doing who-knows-what, but she was going to find out.
"Practicing the song you taught me," he answered as one of his fingers slipped off the neck of his cello, producing a loud, squeaking sound.
"In the barn? Why? There's a perfectly good music room inside: use it."
"It's alright. I like it out here," he replied easily. "It wasn't hard getting it out here, and you did say that I need practice," he continued, producing another squeal from the instrument.
"Here, let me help you," she said, placing her fingers over his and guiding them into the correct positions.
As she helped him play her arm lightly brushed up against his making him shake.
"Something wrong?"
"No, of course not. Thank you, Saya," he answered, shifting his body out of her reach.
Curious, she moved closer beside him and casually draped her arm over his shoulder in an effort to better reach the strings. After playing through a couple bars with him, she casually retracted her hand, letting her fingers slide gently up his wrist and arm. He shivered but continued playing.
"Very good, Haji," she complimented. Then after a moment, "Hey, Haji, can you tell me something?"
"Anything."
"Are you ticklish?"
Saya could've sworn she'd seen his blush before he hesitantly answered, "No, not at all."
"Oh, really?"
"Really."
"You wouldn't happen to be lying to me, now would you?"
"Of course not. I would never lie to you, Saya."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Really, really?" she asked again, inching towards him.
He sighed, "Yes Saya, Really."
"Liar!" she shouted, lunging at him and tickling him in the sides. The cello fell unharmed to into a hay pile as Haji went on the defensive, blocking his sides from her onslaught, trying to stifle his laugh.
After a moment Saya delved in again with renewed vigor, making Haji laugh out loud, breaking the silence with his high, resonant voice.
Satisfied, Saya watched her attack with a gleeful smile on her face, "Told you so!"
"You're mean, Saya."
"Maybe, but you love me anyway," she smiled.
Haji just sighed and picked up his cello as she bounced joyfully out of the barn, "Of course I do, Saya."
