Chapter 13 – The Ending

A/N: So here we are, this is the end, as the title so nicely put it. I would like to thank all my readers for sticking with me even though my not-so-timely updates got pretty annoying after a while. Hopefully this ends just the way you'd like it I definitely had fun writing it. Anyways guys, please enjoy, tell me what you thought and be sure to check out everything else I have. xxOOxx

The school year ended, summer came and went and then yet another year and summer whizzed by and to Derek none of it meant very much. Derek and Casey had both gotten into Queens, Nora was pregnant with the first of the union between her and George and that brought the family even closer together. Casey went through guy problems and Derek went through girlfriends but he could never keep any of that working because no matter what was happening, no matter what sort of drama Casey was going through or how happy everyone else was, Derek never once forgot about Krya Chullock and how much he missed her.

Kyra wrote them all of course, well as much as she could, in letters addressed to the McDonald-Venturi family that either Nora or George read out to everyone like the morning paper. She told them how everything was with her. Her health had improved and she had become a cheerleader again. Alpha was enjoying running around the fields and of course was constantly watching her every move. As grade 12 got harder and the pressure to get good grades fell upon her Kyra's letter's dwindled down to none and then the McDonald-Venturi family stopping hearing from her all together.

Still Derek never forgot Kyra Chullock.

He had packed his bag, being sure to pack the picture she had given him and he and Casey took a bus to Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. They would both be in residence but luckily in separate halls. Derek was glad to be getting some space from Casey but he had promised to not avoid her entirely. They had gotten there a week early. Casey had wanted the time to mentally prepare herself and of course she had made Derek come with her.

So Derek found his dorm room, got everything set up and settled in. Once he was done he met up with Casey going to her dorm to check out her room before convincing her to explore the campus with him. They talked and walked with their frozen drinks in their hands as they strolled through the quad. There was no destination in mind as they talked about their expectations for the year.

Casey was both excited and nervous where as Derek just wanted to party.

Half way through their walk Derek was suddenly tackled to the ground. He was surprised because he didn't think he knew anyone other than Casey at Queens, well not anyone close enough to him tackle him. He hadn't been in a fight or gotten into anyone face so no one could have a big enough problem with him to take him to the ground. He was kind of pissed off about it because he had been wearing a nice shirt and eyeing a blonde girl sitting under a tree and giving him the vibe that she could be an easy conquest and now he was covered in grass stained and dirt, not to mention the frozen drink he had been enjoying had gone everywhere.

Derek pulled himself up as Casey was struggling to suppress her giggles, he was ready to tell this jerk off and then yell at his step sister but when he did he didn't find a jerk. Sitting in front of him was a black and tan German shepherd smiling a toothy panting grin at him.

"What the—?" Derek wondered and the dog puffed out it's chest so Derek could read the name on it's tag and Derek felt his heart stop in his chest.

Alpha

"Hello," a small voice whispered and when Derek looked up there she was. Her black hair was trimmed shorter she had gotten taller and healthier looking. She was no longer pale but a glowing color as she smiled at him. However, those big blue eyes shining only for him were the exact same.

"Kyra," Derek breathed out, standing to greet her. He could scarcely believe that she was there. Alpha got up and moved over to sit beside her allowing Derek to take a step forward so he was directly in front of her. He put a tentative shaking had out to her and rested it on your shoulder. "You're really here."

"Yes, I am. I'm glad you still remember," Kyra said putting her hands on his chest as she took half a step closer pushing herself closer to him. "I told Casey not to tell you that I was here."

"Of course I remember you," he said not bothering to tell her that it didn't matter if Casey knew she was there or not. She was there that was all that mattered. He slid his lips onto hers relishing in the familiar softness. He inhaled her unique scent and those old butterflies returned having apparently multiplied and been set on fire.

"I'm ready now," she whispered to him.

Derek smiled against her lips. "Good, because this time I'm not letting you go," he said to her.

And he didn't.
