I Blame Bertie Bott

This whole incident started all because I was eating Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. My preferred candy is Sugar Quills, but I must say, Bertie Bott was a genius. I mean, having every flavour? That's magic.

I was sitting under the beech tree by the lake. It was a nice summer day, and there was a slight breeze. The giant squid was waving its tentacles in the breeze, and other students of Hogwarts were either lounging in the shade like me, or swimming in the lake.

I had just put a grass-flavoured bean in my mouth when I saw the Marauders approaching.

"Whatcha got there, Lily?" asks Sirius.

"Just Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans...and no, you can't have any. My goal is to taste every flavour," I reply smugly.

I laugh as Sirius pouts.

"Well, what would you do if I happened to steal one?" asks James, and I can see his hazel eyes twinkling mischievously behind his wire-rimmed glasses.

"I'd hex you of course, then I'd feed you to the giant squid," I say matter-of-factly with a slight smile.

"Lily, look at that unicorn over there!" says Sirius pointing across the grounds, trying to distract me.

"It's not going to work, Sirius, unicorns don't come out of the forest unless Hagrid is around."

"Bloody hell! I thought that would work!" Sirius goes back to pouting and I laugh, missing the look that Remus gives James.

"No, Lily, look at that niffler over there by Diggory! I don't think he knows it's going after his watch!" Remus says.

Stupid me, trusting Remus. I always seem to forget that he's as good at distractions as the others... and I always believe him, too.

I look over at McNair and I feel the box of Every Flavour Beans being snatched out of my hand.

"JAMES!"

"Yes, Lily?"

"You stole my last bean! Now I'll never know what flavour it was!" I pout.

"Who says?"

"You ate it! How am I supposed to know?"

And before I know what's going on, James' mouth is on mine.

And well, that last bean?

I still don't know what flavour it was...but that kiss sure was tasty!
