"Life sucks, and then you die"

-Jacob Black

"This isn't fair."

Robin looked up from the television screen, towards Raven, with her head ducked and her features shadowed by her hood.

"What isn't?" he asked.

"This," she said, and her voice was not even, nor sarcastic. It was late, late at night, and the rest of the team slept silently in their beds. "None of this. We bust our asses for this city...the entire world, and then...they're so quick to accuse us--accuse you--of something...terrible."

They had, just recently, returned from Tokyo.

Robin sighed quietly, flipping a channel on the television set, more for the sake of something to do with himself.

"Aren't you mad?" she asked. He'd never heard her voice like this before. Vulnerable. Weak. Broken. Dripping with a deeply hidden anguish of the world around her that she saved for quiet, late nights such as this. Only for Robin.

He paused, "I would have accused me too."

He didn't look at her, but he could almost feel her hopelessness, "That's my point,"she hissed, "Everyone is so...quick, to judge and accuse and provoke, so quick to turn on the people who protect them...it's not fair."

Robin leaned his head against the couch and glanced at her, "Life isn't fair, Rae."

Her back was towards him, and she leaned her arms against her knees, "We do so much...for everyone. They don't even appreciate us."

He nodded sympathetically, in agreement with her words, "It's all part of the job."

A/N Yeah, yeah, I know. Shut up and review to tell me how much I suck.
