Note: A short story I wrote in Valentine Day. Hope you guys enjoy it.
------------------------------------
The weather changed recently. Every time, Gibbs looked up to the sky, it was always cloudy. Today was Valentine Day but he did not have any plan. He held the coffee cup in his hand as usual, stood quietly near the windowpane. His eyes suddenly looked sad and lonely. Most of the agents in the office went home and the light started to turn off, one by one.
"Gibbs," Ziva's soft voice reached out to Gibbs, "Do you need a ride?"
Perhaps, Gibbs smiled but all Ziva could see to be his back and a shake of his head mean no. Her face looked a little bit of disappoint but she did not know what else to ask.
"Where is Tony?" Gibbs suddenly asked.
"He already left the building ten minutes ago, Gibbs." Ziva replied and walked next to Gibbs. "You don't have any plan for today? It's Valentine right?"
"Like you don't know about it," Gibbs did smile, "Don't say to me that you have nothing to do in Valentine Day." Gibbs joked but Ziva could feel a sad emotion from him.
"I have a date today, but still…" Ziva stopped the sentence as she was looking for a perfect word to say.
"Huh? But what…" Gibbs looked at Ziva and asked with gentle eyes.
"But if you want someone to accompany with, I will be here." Ziva spoke.
"Ah," Gibbs gave his coffee cup to Ziva and said, "Drink it and go home, Ziva. Don't bother about me. I like to be alone. If you're still worry, you can go and look for Tony. I'm sure he is planning something big for you tonight."
Ziva's face turned red when Gibbs mentioned about Tony and his "big" plan. Gibbs knew the relationship between Ziva and Tony, it was getting better. However, for some reasons, Ziva still wanted to stay with Gibbs. She was holding Gibbs' coffee cup and looked pointless to the outside. She glanced at Gibbs and surprised that he was looking right at her. Her face once again turned red.
"Ohm… what are you looking at, Gibbs?" Ziva asked with a low voice and kind of nervous.
"Go home, Ziva!" Gibbs stated his words and walked away from her, "Don't tie yourself with something that you can't hold," but he stopped front of the elevator, "Or perhaps I wish you won't experience the same thing as those I… once… love…"
Ziva surprised but it quickly became a cold feeling. Gibbs stepped into the elevator and the door started to close. Ziva's hands held tightly the coffee cup. She was thinking, thinking of something to say or just a last look at Gibbs. Yet, she stood there and let the elevator door closed completely. She let that moment gone. She did not know if that was the right thing to do or she just buried her truth feeling deep down into her heart.
Rain started to fall. Wind also blew. Ziva stood alone in the dark room and stared out to the sky faraway. All of a sudden, she relied what Gibbs was looking at, a long lost memory of the past…
