Dealing with Obsession
A Visit to Ron & Hermione
Harry slowly opened his eyes, glancing around; he realized that he was not in his own bed. Blinking a few times, last nights activities soon came back into mind. His body was throbbing with a dull ache, especially his bum. Rolling over he gasped as Malfoy was staring at him with his hands behind his head. He smirked.
"Good morning sexy", Malfoy said licking his lips.
This was unusually awkward for Harry, first off he was in no way used to having such intense sex like that, and he was definitely not used to waking up with someone. He and Ginny rarely slept in the same bed anymore, and it was a shock to him to see that Malfoy stayed.
"Morning", Harry mumbled.
The sex was the easy part, but the conversation between the two after sex was much harder. Harry didn't want to start spitting off lame things such as how much he enjoyed last night and how he was really looking forward to doing it again. No, he could not just say those things.
"Who knew that the famous Harry Potter secretly lusted after my cock?" Malfoy chuckled.
Harry really did not know what to say, and he was way too comfortable to get up and walk out, besides he didn't want to be rude to Malfoy.
"Malfoy…" He said, but he had no idea where he was going with it.
"Don't start preaching about how this was wrong and all that rubbish. If you thought it was so damned wrong, you wouldn't have done it." He spat.
"I wasn't going to say anything like that." Harry said, furrowing his brow.
"Oh, so you really did enjoy it?" He smirked.
"I enjoyed it enough to want it again." Harry hissed, nibbling on Malfoy's ear.
"Damn, Potter, I just might have to kill Ginny so I can have you all to myself." Malfoy replied, grabbing both sides of Harry's face and kissing him forcefully, slipping his tongue in his mouth.
"And I could get used to those lips kissing me every morning." Harry commented.
"But seriously, the wife is a major problem here." Draco growled lowly, propping himself up.
"Mal…Draco; she's my wife." Harry stammered.
He really didn't know what to say at this point, because he had cheated on Ginny with another bloke, Malfoy of all people. The guilt was just now starting to surface.
"So what? Divorce her? Kill her? Tell her? I don't care; just get rid of the stupid bitch so we can be together." He spat, running his fingers through Harry's tousled hair.
"What?" Harry gaped. "You just want me to leave my wife?"
"You don't love her." Malfoy stated blatantly. "Because, if you did love her; you wouldn't be lying in bed with me, naked."
"Do you know how hurt she'll be when she finds out I have been cheating on her with another bloke, especially if that bloke is you?" Harry questioned.
"She'll get over it, Potter." He snapped. "Unless you would rather spend your life in complete misery married to that daft bint."
Harry was silent. His life with Ginny had definitely been anything but exciting. Inside, Harry knew that he was not happy with Ginny, and had not been in quite sometime. And when he had started seeing Malfoy, things changed drastically. As much as he would love to deny it, Harry felt happy and free around Malfoy; especially during sex. He didn't have to hold back on anything because Malfoy allowed him to do whatever he pleased. Never with Ginny, was he able to express himself like that; she always frowned up on any type of sexual experimentation.
"Do you want to be with me, Potter?" Malfoy asked, kissing his cheekbone lightly.
He was confused. Oh was he ever confused. He had never really thought about his and Malfoy's relationship beyond sex. The thought of an actual relationship with the blonde was sort of intimidating. This was his first time being sexual with a guy; let a lone being involved in a relationship. Harry thought about if he could wake up every morning feeling this happy and relaxed it would be worth it, and to see Malfoy's smile when he woke up. He couldn't imagine waking up to anything other than Malfoy's perfect pointed face.
"I know I don't want to lose you." Harry mumbled, pulling him in for an intense kiss.
"We can't keep seeing each other like this Harry; you need to do something about Ginny." Draco stated, as his hands rubbed at his inner thigh.
This was very confusing for Harry. Everything about his life was finally making sense and falling into place. He was happy, but on the other hand there was Ginny. He had fallen in love with her and married the woman. Harry couldn't place his finger on it, but somewhere down the road he had stopped loving her. That was the bitter truth. He didn't know when, but the love and romance they once shared was nothing more than a faded memory. He couldn't even recall the last time the two went out on a proper date. She was always nagging him to go back to the wizarding community; perhaps he should. She wanted kids. Harry didn't. Their lives were more opposite than him and Draco.
"You're right, Draco." Harry sighed. "I can't keep living a lie."
"What are you going to do?" Malfoy asked as he got out of bed and walked to the kitchen and put on some coffee.
"Honestly, I have no fucking clue." Harry mumbled, running his fingers through his tousled hair. "I can't exactly sit her down at dinner and say, 'Oh hey by the way Ginny, I have been sleeping with Draco Malfoy'."
"Why not", Malfoy laughed?
"Despite her being the biggest bint, she still deserves better."
"Fine, I will disagree with that Harry, but respect it."
"We are going to visit Ron and Hermione today. I finally told her I would go. Perhaps I could get a little heart-to-heart with Hermione. She would know what's best." Harry sipped on his coffee.
Placing his hand on Harrys, Draco looked directly into his eyes.
"Are you sure this is what you want. Me." His eyes never blinked.
"This is crazy and insane, possibly all fucked up, but for some reason it makes sense. You and I", smiled Harry.
"I agree."
"Well, Draco as much as I would love to stay and shag you all day I do have to return home to Ginny so we can visit Ron and Hermione."
"Well, I will see you later?" Draco asked.
"Probably not, most likely be tomorrow." Harry replied giving him a gentle kiss on the lips.
"Harry James Potter, where the hell have you been?" Ginny asked with her hands on her hips, standing in the door way.
"Out", he didn't feel like coming up with another detailed lie.
"With who?" She snapped.
"Work meeting this morning." He lied.
"My trust in you is dissolving each day Harry." She said in a more meek voice.
"Sorry." He replied dully.
"Look Harry, we need to go visit Ron and Hermione. They have prepared a dinner for us, please be on your best." Ginny warned.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean, Gin?"
"Don't be snapping at me like that. Could you at least like me while we're there?"
"I wouldn't be snappy with you, if you didn't push my buttons. Maybe you should try being nice and calm for once; or are those words not in your vocabulary?"
"Fine, we'll both be calm." She stated.
"Good."
Harry went upstairs to shower and get dressed. Ginny was already under his skin and had his blood boiling. Standing in front of the mirror, he contemplated just telling her everything right then and there. Shaking his head, Harry knew he really needed to talk to Hermione. She always handled difficult situations very well. He wasn't going to lie; Harry was excited to get to see Ron and Hermione. It had been way too long. Together Harry and Ginny walked out of their house and down an empty alley where they had disapparated to Ron's.
Seconds later Harry was standing in front of a small cottage. He could smell the aroma of something quite tasty drifting out the windows. A smile crossed his lips.
"Thank you Ginny." He said simply. "For making me come."
"It's about time." She replied.
Harry sighed. No matter how much he tried to be nice to her; she would always respond with a snarky comment. A slight chuckle left his lips as he realized that his wife and Draco Malfoy had pretty much switched places. Draco was still a pompous, arrogant, git most of the time, but at least he treated Harry with respect. Ginny didn't care if she hurt his feelings or not and didn't care about Harry's needs or wants. Everything in their relationship was always about her. He immediately loosened his hand around hers as they walked inside.
Hermione greeted them both with a very tight and warm hug. Her hair no longer bushy and untidy it was neatly curled against her shoulders and she looked lovely. Ron appeared behind her. He really hadn't changed that much, still tall and slender with red hair and freckles.
"Hermione." Harry stated excitedly.
"Oh Harry, it's been forever. I am so glad you could come." She squealed.
"Ginny, you look lovely." Hermione complimented.
"At least Hermione compliments me." She whispered.
His lips curled in disgust as he just wanted to smack her. He ignored the comment and walked in to greet Ron.
"Bloody hell, Harry, it has been way too long mate."
"I agree Ron. I am sorry." He said.
"Look, I know after the war you went through some stuff. It was hard on all of us. I am just happy you're here!"
"Me too."
"The kitchen is this way." Hermione said, leading the way.
"Gods, it smells delicious." Harry replied.
"Hermione got cooking lessons from my mum!" Ron beamed.
"Then it's sure to be a treat!"
"How come I never got cooking lessons?" Ginny blurted.
"Well Gin, because you moved away." Ron stated matter-of-factly.
"I wouldn't have done, if Harry would have just stayed here."
"Ginny, I thought you were going to be nice." Harry said, placing his hand on hers. "Please, let's not ruin this dinner. I have been looking forward to seeing my best mates for a long time now."
"Fine."
Ron and Hermione both exchanged worried looks as she began passing out the plates. Ron managed to grab everyone a butterbeer.
"Ginny, we have missed you back home. Mum asks about you, and wants to see you." Ron said.
"I know. I miss you all too, so very much. I feel like I am trapped in the muggle world, ya know? Harry refuses to ever move back." She sighed dropping her head.
Harry knew immediately she was putting on a pity act for the two of them. He wasn't about to fall for it.
"Just hold on Ginny. Never once did I say I would never move back. I just said I wasn't ready to do it so soon." Harry corrected her.
"Mate, you and Ginny getting along alright?" Ron asked as he noted the anger in Harry's eyes.
"Oh brother of mine, everything's just peachy in the muggle world. Harry leaves me at home for hours at end, doing who knows what or whom."
"Harry?!" Hermione gasped.
"No! It's not true!" He exclaimed. "I left early this morning for a work meeting. Work has been really stressful lately."
"Perhaps a vacation would be what you guys need?" Ron said cheerfully.
"Hermione, we haven't been intimate in weeks. He will hardly touch me!" Ginny began to sob.
Harry's heart was beating rapidly in his chest. The anger was building up and he didn't know how much more he could control himself. One person could only take so much. He wasn't going to let her make him look like a fool in front of his best friends.
"Ginny, that's gross!"
"Ron, intimacy is very important part of a healthy relationship." Hermione said. "You seem to enjoy it very much."
Ron blushed and began sipping on his butterbeer.
"Harry, what's going on?" Hermione asked.
Harry looked directly into her eyes as if hoping to get her alone so they could talk. He was much more respectful of Ginny than she was being of him. Hermione nodded and started dipping out soup for everyone.
"Eat now and we will talk later." She smiled at Harry.
"Ginny, I am sorry." Ron said. "I had no idea."
"I know Ron; it's not your fault. I would visit more if Harry would want to."
"What do you mean?" Ron's eyebrows arched.
"I don't think Harry wants to see you guys much. I have suggested visiting numerous times, but every time he declines." She said wiping away fake tears.
"Is this true, mate?"
"No! I mean, I declined one time because I had a big conference meeting with my bosses and I was not about to ask them to reschedule on my accord." Harry exclaimed.
"What have you done to Ginny Harry? She seems absolutely miserable!" Ron was now the angry one.
"Boys!" Hermione warned.
"Your sister is nothing but a complete controlling narcissistic bitch, whose goal is to make me lose my bloody mind. I try, Ron, I do to please her! She snaps at me at every whim. Nothing I do for her is ever good enough. It's always about what Ginny fucking wants, nothing is ever a compromise!" Harry growled. "Frankly she has gotten on my last nerve. This whole thing..." He pointed at her. "Is nothing more than a mere charade."
Ginny put her hands in her hands and began to sob.
"Wait just a second, where do you get off on calling my sister such horrible names?!" Ron said standing face to face with Harry.
"Harry…" Hermione said softly, gently tugging on his shirt. "Let's go for a walk."
Ron immediately walked over and started consoling Ginny, rubbing her head and trying to talk to her.
"Harry's never acted like that, Ginny. I am so sorry. I hope Hermione puts him in his place, or I will."
Outside the air was fresh and warm. The light wend blew gently against the grass. Harry could see the sun beaming down on all the plants. The weather was just perfect and outside, away from Ginny Harry finally relaxed. Taking a deep breath he inhaled the air and slowly exhaled as he took a seat on a rock next to some purple flowers.
"I have missed you so much, Hermione." Harry smiled. "I am so sorry that I didn't come and see you more. I knew I should have."
"I've missed you, Harry, but clearly something's changed. You and Ginny are at each other's throats. You can cut the tension with a knife; it's that bad." Hermione said.
"Yeah, I know."
"What happened? Are all those things she said true?"
"No! She's being a dramatic bitch!" Harry spat.
"That's horrible to say Harry. She is like that because she is clearly not happy."
"Neither am I." Harry stated.
"Is it true about the sex?" Hermione asked quizzically.
"Sort of. I ask her to do things with me, but she never wants to. It's always the same." Harry could feel the blush rising to his cheeks as he discussed his sex life with his best mate. "She's a boring lay, Hermione!"
"Harry!" She squeaked. "I have never heard of you talk with such demeanor."
"I don't want to sugar coat it. It's true." He deadpanned.
"Have you tried being romantic with her, like complimenting her and buying her flowers or gifts?"
"I have done that, Hermione. Hell, I went out of my way and made special reservations at this fancy muggle restaurant. At the end of dinner she said 'I deserved this'." I took her home and tried to be passionate with her and she freaked out on me." Harry explained.
"I'm so sorry Harry." Hermione hugged him tightly.
He felt a large lump form in his chest, because he knew the next thing he was going to say was going to come as a complete shock to her.
"I have something to confess, Hermione, but please don't tell anyone." Harry said making direct eye contact. "I am confused, stuck in a life with so many mixed emotions."
"Harry, what's going on?" She was serious.
"I…met…someone." He muttered.
"Harry….Ginny's your wife!"
"I know Hermione. She's my wife, but you've seen us. When we are home, it's worse. She throws things and berates me; constantly yelling and degrading me. I'm not innocent either. I say some pretty mean things back." He confessed, getting up from the rock.
"Do you love her?"
Harry knew that question was going to come up and he already had his answer. He had known his answer since Draco first asked him.
"Not anymore. I can't pin-point the time or when it happened, but somewhere down the road I had fallen out of love with her. I care for her, but I am no longer in love with her, Hermione." Harry paced.
"Oh my…" she whispered, tears forming in her eyes. "So you and this person…"
"Yes, I have been unfaithful to Ginny, but only because for the first time in months this person has made me feel more alive than I have in quite a long time!"
"Harry, you got to end this!" She snapped.
"Which one? The loveless marriage or the passionate affair?" He questioned.
"Harry, what do you want?" Hermione asked.
"I want to be happy, but I don't see that in my future if I stay with Ginny."
Hermione was practically crying.
"I don't understand it Harry. You of all people knew most about loyalty yet you betrayed it. You betrayed your wife!" She cried.
"I know. I feel guilty for lying to her and hiding things from her, but shouldn't we both deserve to be happy even if it's not with each other? Should we be forced to remain together in a loveless bond?" Harry snapped.
"Everyone deserves happiness Harry, especially you of all people. You have been through so much. I just hate to see the way things turned out between you and Ginny. I thought for sure you guys were the perfect couple."
"At one point in time, so did I Hermione."
"Well, if you're certain you must be honest with her. Harry, she deserves that much." Hermione said, placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
"I agree."
"I will do some research on muggle divorces, and find you a suitable lawyer to get this resolved." Hermione sobbed, wiping more tears from her eyes.
"Hermione, that means a great deal to me. I know I have made mistakes in this, but thank you!" Harry smiled.
"Now, let's go back inside. Just be nice to each other. I don't want any murders."
Harry chuckled.
Back inside, Harry draped his arm around Ginny and whispered in her ear. "I am sorry for everything." He meant it too.
She looked up, wiping a single tear from her left eye. "You're an arsehole, Harry James Potter."
He nodded and took a seat and finished his meal.
"You could be a bit nicer to my sister." Ron retorted.
"I am trying, Ron. It's a bit difficult at times, but I am trying." Harry replied. "I am sorry to you as well for the things I said."
"It's ok. I guess not every marriage is rose petals and hot sex." He grinned.
This time it was Hermione who blushed.
"Come on Ginny, let's eat." Harry offered.
She picked up her spoon and began eating, just then Harry seen the smirk that formed on her lips. He knew. Ron was just too naïve to realize his sister had been playing on his emotions the whole time.
The rest of the evening was more calm and uneventful. Ginny did not play out her emotions and Harry didn't lash out at her. They actually had a civil conversation at the dinner with Hermione and Ron talking about the old times and school.
"Everyone changed since Hogwarts", Hermione said.
"I bet that sodding git Malfoy hasn't changed one bit!" Ron growled.
Harry almost spit out his stew.
"Malfoy…Ron, where the hell did he come from?"
"He was just a right bastard back in school. I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up locked in Azkaban."
Harry coughed, "I doubt it. He never possessed the power hungry attitude Lucius had."
"I bet he's worse!"
"Why? What makes you think he couldn't change?" Harry asked.
"Malfoy change for the better?" Ron chortled.
"Harry's right, we haven't seen or spoken to Malfoy in ages."
"Let's hope it stays that way."
Harry just shook his head and kept quiet on the Malfoy subject. It was something he just wasn't ready to discuss yet…not even with Hermione.
Harry quietly watched as Ginny ate her stew; she was definitely trying to play the victim to Ron and Hermione. Harry just wasn't buying it. Looking at her, he thought of how much things have changed in the past years. Used to they would talk animatedly to each other and tease one another. Now it's just rude comments and remarks. It was sad, because Harry couldn't remember the last time him and Ginny truly had a deep conversation. He was beginning to feel guilty about everything.
"Harry, you're staring at me." Ginny confronted him.
"I know. I was just thinking…" He muttered, "About how sorry I am for hurting you. I am."
"Thank you Harry that means a great deal", and for the first time she smiled.
A few hours later, Ginny nudged Harry. "I think it's time we return back to our place. The hours are getting late."
Harry simply nodded as he hugged Ron and Hermione.
"Harry, remember be honest with her." Hermione whispered.
"I'll miss you guys." He said.
"Ronnie, tell mom I'll come and visit soon!"
The pair was out the door and walking down the street. The tension was there. Harry just wanted to lash out at her for acting like a drama queen, but he bit his tongue.
"Harry, I guess I owe you an apology for those harsh things I said."
"Ginny, what the hell happened to us?" He questioned, grabbing her hand.
"When did we become so bitter towards each other?"
"I…"
"Yeah, me either. Does it have to be like this? Can't we be friends?"
"Truth is Harry you're never present to be my friend or my husband." She said, with such defeat.
Harry didn't know what to say, because most of it was true. He wasn't there because she was always under his skin and he could only tolerate so much. Grabbing her hand they immediately apparated back to their house. Once back inside, Harry went to the fridge and poured him a glass of bourbon, because he knew it was going to be one hell of a night.
"Ginny, sit let's talk. No harsh tongues, just a civil conversation." Harry ordered as he sit in one of the recliners.
"I should get a glass of wine." She said.
"I would suggest it."
Ginny returned and sit opposite Harry, looking directly at him.
"I am never here because I can't deal with your attitude anymore. It has become cold and hateful, much less than the Ginny I knew."
"I am not happy, Harry." She sniffled.
"What will make you truly happy, Ginny? Don't hold back, be completely honest."
"I…want someone to love me back for who I am. I want a guy who is romantic, charming, funny, and attractive. I want a guy who wants me for the rest of my life and wants to start a family; someone that works hard and is willing to do things with me. Harry, I don't want to be a stay at home wife. I want to work and be a mom one day. I want to move back to the wizarding community and get a job at the Ministry of Magic as Secretary for the Muggle Artifacts Dept." Ginny answered.
"Do you see me in that picture, Ginny?" The question had been rough, but necessary.
"Harry…I…well, you… I mean. I guess what I am trying to say is, I don't think you want those things."
"I guess I have woken up in the last few days, Ginny, because I do want to move back. I don't want to hide out any longer." Harry responded.
"That is a great Harry, what brought that on?"
"I guess seeing Hermione and Ron made me realize how much I have missed."
"What do you want Harry James Potter?" Ginny asked standing up and walking towards him. "The truth."
This was it. This was the time to come clean about everything. It was now or never.
Harry took a big drink of his bourbon and looked right at Ginny.
"You may want to sit for this, because I have a feeling that you might not like what I have to say next, Ginny Weasley."
