The brunette was racing her motorcycle down the street, like there was no tomorrow.
It was pitch black and it was late. 'I never sleep.'
She ran a red light and almost hit someone in the process.
"Shit!" She hopped off her bike. "Hey, are you okay?"
Blonde girl, green eyes. 'She looks scared.'
The brunette helped her up. "Am I okay? You nearly ran me over, of course I'm not okay." Her answer wasn't sassy, just quick and witty. 'I like that.'
"I guess 'I'm sorry' won't count for anything then?" She smiled "No, it counts. It does. But, do you feel like buying me coffee? You did almost kill me you know, so coffee would be the right way to go."

The blonde girl grinned and introduced herself. "I'm Buffy." The brunette grabbed her hand and shook it. "Max and how about a beer instead of coffee?" Buffy shrugged. 'Great, a weirdo.' "Okay, well, hop on."
Max gave Buffy her helmet and drove off to the bar, where she knew she'd run into Original Cindy, Scetch and maybe even Alec if she was unlucky enough.

Max slowed down as they pulled up to the bar. "One beer coming up." They exchanged smiles as they walked inside.
"Hey Scetch, get me two beers." Max yelled out knowing he'd be sitting close enough to take her order.
"Mm, mm, mm. Look who's here, my girl!" Original Cindy high fived 'her girl' "This is Buffy. I almost ran her over, so I'm buying her a beer." Original Cindy looked her up and down. "She's a cute one. You just scream girlfriend material-" She winked at Buffy. "Thanks, but I'm straight. Really, really, straight."
Scetch came up from behind them with beers in hand. "Wow, Max. You look hot." She just glared, so Scetch turned to Buffy. "Aren't you jailbait?" He recieved a punsch in the arm for tham, from Max.
"Jailbaite? Dude, I'm 23."

Buffy downed her beer in a matter of seconds. "Eeasy there blondie." Said Max and took the now empty bottle from her. "It feels like I know you Max, like, I donät know. You're a part of me. We're the same?"
Max started to get nervous. "I don't think so, B." Scetch pulled her aside. "She got a place to crash tonight?" Max grimaced in disgust. "She's got a place where she's not crashing tonight, that's for sure! Bufy come on. Cin we're blazing."
Max and Buffy walked outside. 'Fresh air.' Max looked up at the night sky and saw all the stars.

A night like all the rest, lately, it all had started to look the same to her. "I do know you Max. You know who I am, don't you?" Without taking her eyes from the sky, Max replied; "I know what you do, if that's what you mean. But it wouldn't be fair to say that I know who you are." She sat down on the curb and motioned for Buffy to join her.
"Don't you think what I do is pretty much the same as to what you do? We save the world, we change the world. How does it make you feel Max?" Max smiled, mainly because she knew the answer. "Different?" Buffy leaned back to get a better view of all the stars. "Superior?" Max nodded in agreement. "Life is pretty scary, but then again nothing in this world, is worth fighting for, unless you really want it."
They shared the saddest smile in the world, a smile filled with sarrow, regret, anger and pain.

"See that star right there?" Max pointed to one of the billion stars. "Yeah?" Buffy squinted her eyes, Max leaned in closer. "And that one?" Buffy nodded her head 'yes' "That one too? Right by the moon?" 'yes' "They're all our fallen heroes.
That's where they go when they die in battles."
