"Do you love me?"

His words echoed in her head, rolling around until she couldn't think straight; couldn't think of anything but him. Did she love him? She'd never been sure what she felt.

"Do you love me?"

What was love betweeen them? Would it change how they acted or how they saw each other? If it really was love, then wouldn't the feelings have been there the whole time?

"Do you love me?"

Could she love him? She had loved before; but now those loves were lost. Did she dare to love again?

"Do you trust me?"

He was right beside her now, whispering his question in her ear. Did she trust him? Yes, she trusted him. She trusted him with her life. He would never hurt her; she knew that too.

"Do you trust me?"

The answer was yes.

"If you trust me, do you love me?"

She thought for a long time about that. She trusted him to love her; but did she trust herself to love him back? They lived a dangerous life; and she didn't think that she could stand to lose another love. But when she looked into his eyes, and saw him staring back at her with no uncertainty, no regrets, she knew the answer. If he could tell her these things when he knew she might reject him, her worries seemed like nothing.

"Do you love me?"

She smiled, so quickly lost in his deep eyes. She answered him, her words barely a whisper. And their lips met in a kiss.

Fin.
