Disclaimer: I own nothing and no one

Welcome to Peppymint's Fanfiction Blitz of 2017, 1 of 7. Seven updates for seven days to ring in the New Year.

Also, when I started the Kuroba 'Verse Kaito's mom was very much a mystery figure who we had only seen once when Aoko went over to her best friend's house looking for him. But now that we know who she is I will write her accordingly.

I will try to go back and fix the previous segments someday inserting her real name etc. I just have to find the time.

Destiny

Toichi smiled softly as he drew his head back from the beautiful female thief in his arms; the feel of her lips lingering on his own. She was the one. He could feel it. The magician was no stranger to romance. He had always been popular with the ladies. But, they had all bored him in time. This woman, he was sure, she wouldn't. He was hardly bothered by the fact she was a thief, not with his family history, and speaking of thieves . . .

The lady still looked a little stunned, not that he could blame her. After all, it wasn't everyday one was saved in such a dramatic (romantic Toichi added) fashion. She was however recovering nicely, even coming up with a quip about whether she would have to share his jewelry box.

"Of course not," Toichi replied. Men in his family did not settle for average in any aspect of their lives. He wanted something special. A love story for the ages.

The scene was interrupted by an ominous creaking sound, bringing Toichi's attention back to the matter at hand. Like any magician worth his salt, he had gone over every detail of the prototype rig before even thinking of testing it. Just because they possessed certain advantages, his own Father had drilled into his head, was no reason to develop bad habits. Kuroba were neither lazy nor sloppy.

Toichi had designed every bolt and rivet of the hang glider. The fabric had been chosen with care. He had even tested the tensile strength of the stitching. There was only problem. It had been built for one, not two, and they were still more than a hundred feet off the ground.

Almost in response to that thought one of the joints gave. The pairs formally smooth flight quickly becoming an out of control tumble. Toichi felt a smaller hand grasp his, holding tightly. The Phantom Lady's face was pale, but she did not scream.

Fortunately, the magician had planned for failure as well. A touch of a single button was all it took to release the now useless mechanism, allowing it to sheer off in the wind. With expert precision Toichi stopped their tumble, transforming it into a controlled dive. As they dipped behind the tall trees, a pair of midnight black wings emerged from his back, lifting them skyward once more.

He grinned charmingly at his companion. Not a hint of strain showing in his voice or demeanor. "Now," Toichi asked. "Where were we?"

FoaWFoaWFoaW

Muses say the Chikage left out the bit about the glider breaking when she told Kaito the story. It was more romantic that way. As for Toichi, he redesigned the glider just in case he ever needed to catch someone else.

Updates for the Blitz will be in the evenings because I work. Hope you enjoyed and please review.
