Under the Mask

When Batman came too, Dawn was reaching over the horizon, casting everything in long shadows. He barely recalled the night before, the hit to his head that caused him to black out. He frowned, but try as he might nothing resurfaced but a flash and the sudden pain that came with the blow. He'd been fighting Joker, of course.

He was still laying on the roof of the building, cool breeze brushing against what showed of his face. He'd been knocked out, unable to respond to anything, with the joker right there! His hands flew to his face, and though he could feel the mask, he needed something else to tell him it was still truly there.

"Don't bother." Joker's voice said with a cackle. The Dark Knight turned, watching the silhouette of Joker sitting next to him, watching over him all night.

"Why didn't you take it off?" Batman asked, hiding his intrigue with his gruff voice. Joker responded with a laugh.

"Quite frankly, I don't care who you are under that mask. Those other guys who think they see the "big picture" don't see what I see. Under the mask, you're not Batman. It's Batman that completes me." Joker turned to him slightly, smirking. "It's Batman that I love." Joker heaved himself up. "See ya around Batsy." and then he was over the side of the building, only to rain havoc on the city tomorrow night.

OWARI

I honestly think Joker wouldn't care if he ever did find out Batman's identity. God knows, he's had plenty of chances. Reveiw please!
