Mason was awake. Not as awake as George but awake enough to know what was going on around him.

He could feel George get up off the couch and hear her walking around the room. Well at least she's still here he thought blearily. George had always had a calming effect on him. She looked out for him, a lot like an older sister would. No one had ever looked out for him before. He was the fuck up, in life and in death. He drilled a hole in his head for fuck's sake! He'd lost his post-it, pissed off Kiffany, and had countless other mistakes. But all of those he'd managed to fix.

But not Ray.

Ray he had killed without a post-it.

And so, Ray had become a graveling.

A graveling that has been terrorizing Daisy and George's house and had already caused way more problems than that son of a bitch was worth. Ray was a scum bag and a liar, in his opinion.

He'd tried to hurt Daisy. Well not so much tried as nearly choked her! Why she was even with him in the first place he had no idea. Daisy deserved someone better, someone who would take care for the rest of her undead life.

And Ray? Ray was just an ass-hole. A lying ass-hole he was.

So when he grabbed her, Mason did the only logical thing in his mind. He beat him with the first thing he could grab, which just so happened to be a blunt object. All in self-defense, well the first hit was.

So here he was, afraid to fall asleep, in the house where he killed someone without a post-it. And here was Georgie looking out for him again. She was different. She was different in a lot of ways, especially the way she reaped. It wasn't the way that she took her reaps exactly but when there were gravelings involved, that's where she was different.

She seemed to be able to see the gravelings, really see them. Look at them straight on and not lose sight of 'em. Most reapers can't do that, hell, no reaper is suppose to be able to do that. Gravelings are supposed to be just a blur, maybe on an off chance focusing into those grotesque little monsters. But you're not supposed to be able to look straight at them. They're accidents, you're not suppose to be able to see accidents.

But she can.

And here she was standing in the middle of the room whispering, "Come out, come out, where ever you are." And for a moment Mason didn't know what she was talking about, until he heard it, the tell-tale hiss of a graveling. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean you can't tell that they're there. He heard George move closer to him and heard her almost whisper "I never liked you Ray."

Then her hand came into view and all of the sudden he could see it. Ray was sitting on top of the couch looking at George, watching as she reached forward and ran her hand along his arm; like she was reaping the graveling's soul. As soon as she backed up Ray started to disintegrate.

The arm she touched was first to go, then the other arm, and all of the sudden he was gone.

The last thing mason heard before he fell asleep was

"Olly, olly oxen free."

This is only my second fic so drop a line or two, thanks ^-^
