Curtains

Alice stood with one foot on the top her vanity chair, the other stretched out behind her. The chair was balancing on one leg, as she tried in vain to hang the new curtains.

"Jasper, as much as you are enjoying the show, I would enjoy it more if you helped me."

Jasper chuckled and pushed himself from the doorframe, walking towards Alice in long strides. Jasper stopped a few feet in front of her and crossed his arms over his chest, a smirk playing on his face. "I thought my wife was independent."

"Jasper," Alice growled.

Jasper smiled as he effortlessly picked her up around the waist and lifted her higher so she could reach. Alice set the pole onto the hook and pushed the curtains to either side.

"Okay," Alice said once she was satisfied with how the curtains sat.

Jasper shifted her so he could hold her to his chest. "Maybe I don't want to put ya down, just yet, darlin'," Jasper whispered huskily in her ear.

Alice gave a shiver of delight at the sound of his accent and wiggled in his arms indicating she wanted to be turned around. Jasper turned her in his arms and she wrapped her legs around his waist; her arms draped over his shoulders. "Maybe I knew you wouldn't." Alice then leaned in and kissed him.
