Those days are gone, it's over now

We're moving on

It was funny how they had always been together through it all, the four of them. Hayner, Pence, Olette, and Roxas. Four very best friends sharing the good times and bad, the same adversaries. All the memories they had since high school were with each other. Since the day Roxas had come to town and the trio had adopted the new boy they had been inseperable. People certainly could change over the course of their high school careers and they got to witness this miracle firsthand. Seifer Almasy, head of the Twilight Town Disciplinary Committee who regularly abused their power to bully other students, was public enemy number one. He had tortured the gang for as long as anyone could remember until the day he and Hayner were found in the wrestling room after skipping class in a rather compromising position. Rumors raged like wildfire through the school and it was not much longer until the two blondes officially declared going steady.

Then there was Axel. The mysterious redhead that plagued Roxas's dreams and steps. Roxas was never one to get close to other people but Axel was special. He was just like Roxas and yet so vastly different. He knew the pain of not having a heart. He held and cradled and kissed the little boy, showering him in the sweetest affections. Axel was his first in many ways. First kiss, first love, first to explore his innocent body. Hayner's jaw nearly dislocated when Roxas first introduced the hot redhead. Axel was one hell of a charmer but he was incredibly loyal to Roxas.

The three couples gathered along the edge of the clock tower at the sunset of the gang's senior year. Seifer had been graduated nearly a year before and Axel was frequently away but they always came back for the ones they loved. Time could never pull them apart. What mattered was not how often they would see each other but how often they thought about each other. The group was always on each other's minds, every day they were pulled clsoer together by the stray throughts drifting through their minds. It was times like this, arm in arm with their lovers gulping down ice cream and good times that they were happiest.

"Here we are, at the end..." Hayner whispered, looking out across the sleepy city. "End of the summer..."

"Yeah..." Roxas leaned back into Axel's arms lost in his lover's rich scent. "What are you going to do?"

"Hmm.." Hayner held Seifer's hand. "I'm thinking of being a mechanic where Sei works. I could do that for awhile, fixing up old cars and stuff."

"Until you got bored!" Olette teased, prodding Hayner's back.

"Maybe if you two could stay detached." Axel flashed that all-knowing smile.

"Like you're any better, spiky." Seifer hissed but Axel just shrugged the teen off.

"Yeah, I know it." Axel slapped Roxas's butt. "So what are you gonna do baby?"

Roxas blushed fiercly, pulling the redhead's hand into his own. "I'm probably going to come back and live with you."

"Xem'll put you to work alright." Axel kissed his throat.

"I think we're going to go to college." Pence held Olette closer to him. "Don't know for what yet."

"We have to make a promise." Roxas pulled away from Axel and held out a hand, fighting back the tears shining in his eyes. "No matter where we go, what we do, who we meet, no matter what, we'll never forget each other. We'll always come back and visit. We'll never lose this."

With a smile and tears six hand laced together, sealing the promise that would hold them together from now until the end of their lives.

It's the end of the summer
