Stormy Weather
Outside in the small town of Forks there was a violent storm going on. Thunder and lightening were all that could be heard on this night. The rain was so heavy that some streets would be flooded for days.
It was the perfect night to stay indoors with your loved ones.
In the quaint little cottage that they shared, that was just what Edward and Bella Cullen were doing.
Lying in bed, resting in each other's arms they were untouchable to the stormy weather raging on outside.
Edward ran one hand up his wife's side, his fingers slowly hitching up his wife's nightgown. Bella curved her body into her husband's hands impatiently as though she could not wait for him to get the small scrap of clothing off fast enough.
He lifted it farther up now, just exposing her taut stomach when there was an exceptionally loud roar of thunder.
BOOM!
At once Edward's hand stilled and he turned his head to the side, away from the window as though he were hearing something other than the storm.
"Renesmee is awake," he told his wife, who was staring at him curiously.
No sooner had he spoken the words than a soft voice drifted in from the other room.
"Daddy!"
Edward was up and walking towards her room before she had even finished her call.
Carrying her securely in his arms, Edward brought Renesmee into her parent's room and placed her carefully on the bed. Renesmee laid her tiny head against her mother's chest and Edward wrapped his strong arms tenderly around them both.
"Did you get scared of the thunder?" Bella asked her daughter.
Renesmee nodded her head and squirmed closer into her mother's chest.
"Its alright," Bella soothed. "You can sleep with us tonight."
"Now go back to sleep sweetheart," she said, seeing her daughter's eyelids fluttering drowsily.
Renesmee smiled contently and nodded off, glad to be safe between her mother and father.
Edward was staring at his wife and daughter with a look of complete incredulity on his perfect face.
"What is it?"
Edward looked at his wife and smirked impishly. "I never thought that it could be like this. I never thought I could have all this."
"What do you mean Edward?"
Gently, he lifted the hand that wasn't wrapped around Renesmee to tenderly stroke Bella's face.
"Never in a million years would I have believed that I would be as lucky as I am now. To be married to the woman I love and have the most amazing daughter in the world. If Alice had told me that it would end this way I never would have believed her. If she told me that first time that I smelled your blood that I would be strong enough to resist killing you, that I would be strong enough to be with you as a man is with a woman. That one day I would be a completely different man, a complete man I would never have believed her."
Edward's mouth formed into the most dazzling smile that Bella had ever seen.
"And yet here I am, a whole man now. A man who is blissfully happy, who has everything he could ever want."
The couple smiled tenderly at one another and leaned forward at the same time to meet in a fervent kiss.
Their lips met eagerly, molding together wholly.
A light snore disrupted the kiss and the couple pulled away sheepishly, remembering that their beloved daughter slept on peacefully.
Boom!
Another loud cry of thunder pierced the night sky and both parents tightened their holds on their beloved girl.
They would always keep her safe.
Just like they would always keep each other safe.
This was their life now and they were going to enjoy every single second of it.
And they would always get through the stormy weather together.
Forever.
