Chapter 26
Remember This

Hitsugaya carefully maneuvered himself into the room while carrying a very inebriated Hinamori in his arms. Once he managed to get the both of them in without hitting her head against the door frame, he gently placed her on the bed, slipping his arms from under her back and knees as she settled comfortably on her soft sheets. He looked down at her fondly, although a little bothered by the amount of alcohol she consumed that night.
They had just arrived at Hinamori's home after attending Urahara Kisuke's and Yoruichi's wedding. It was a lovely event really; and an event that even Hitsugaya thought happened way too late. The two of them were together for such a long time that they already acted like a married couple before they were engaged. Having their bond written down in official papers didn't make it any more authentic but it was still a pleasant experience celebrating it with close friends. That blonde, Sarugaki Hiyori, even made a very…interesting toast.
Hitsugaya couldn't deny that he had thought about how his day with the love of his life will come, even though most people would say that he was still too young. As the said love of his life mumbled incoherently on the bed, he headed for the door to fetch some water for her. But apparently she wasn't so intoxicated that his presence went unnoticed for her hand reached out and grabbed his wrist as he turned away.
"Don't go 'Shirou…" she slurred.
"I'm just going to get you some water okay?" he said, turning around to give her an assuring look.
"I don't need water," she said stubbornly. "Stay with me please."
Without giving him a chance to argue, she scrambled up and pulled him down with her. Hitsugaya landed on the bed unceremoniously and before he could even say anything, Hinamori climbed on top of him. She straddled his waist and laid her head on his chest, snuggling up to him comfortably. She smiled and let out a contented 'mmm' as the steady beat of his heart reached her ears and his masculine scent filled her senses.
Hitsugaya could only let her do as she wished while he lay on his back. Unable to bite back a smile, he reached a hand up to caress her head. She was like a cat waiting to be petted. Once she felt his hand stroking her, Hinamori sighed happily and burrowed her face in the crook of his neck.
"Momo…what are you doing?" he asked and she could almost hear the smile in his voice.
"You smell nice."
He raised an eyebrow at her but of course she couldn't see it with her face in his neck.
"Do you know that you're drunk?"
"Not drunk," she countered. "Just a little tipsy. The cocktails were so good."
"Yeah, you had quite a few drinks tonight."
"Of course! Urahara-san and Yoruichi-san just got married! It's a time for celebration!"
"Yes yes," Hitsugaya agreed in an effort to placate her. "Now we have to get you changed and ready—"
"You know, Toushirou…you were very popular tonight," she interrupted.
"Hm?"
"With the girls I mean," she continued. "They were all swarming towards you, like bees to honey. You're the honey by the way."
"I know," Hitsugaya admitted. It was true that there were many ladies who approached him and struck a conversation with him. Some were flirtatious and some were downright suggestive; Hitsugaya realized that weddings were indeed an opportunity for singles to hook-up and maybe get lucky. However, he had rejected their advancements by informing them (rather smugly) that he was attached to the beautiful girl in the stunning coral blue dress. So Hinamori had absolutely no reason to feel jealous because he was utterly devoted to her.
"Hmph," she pouted. "You in your tailor-made suit and all…but I don't blame you; they were all extremely pretty."
"Momo, you know I told all of them that I'm with you right?"
"I know," she replied shyly. "But still…I was just this plain, nondescript person in the corner— woah!"
Before she could make sense of what was happening, Hitsugaya had flipped them over so that he loomed over her and trapped her between his arms.
"Don't you say that about yourself again," he warned.
"Toushirou…"
"You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, even more so in this dress and I am not about to deny admitting that I couldn't take my eyes off of you tonight. The other girls can put on their best make-up and wear the most beautiful dresses and still none of them can compare to you. It's not about appearance Momo; I know it's cheesy to say this but it's how you carry yourself and you are so busy being you that you forget how beautiful you are."
He hadn't expected himself to ramble on about such things but he never wanted Hinamori to feel insecure about his love for her. He didn't know how much of what he said was properly understood but he guessed probably 90% because she was staring at him with such a heartened expression. She reached up to cup his face in her hands and pulled him in for a kiss. Hitsugaya gladly leaned in and kissed her firmly and deeply, pouring his emotions into a single touch of lips. He threaded their fingers together and they naturally opened their mouths to welcome the slide of tongue against tongue that they've been so acquainted with. Hinamori didn't bother to suppress the moan that rose up from the back of her throat. Hitsugaya half-smirked and dragged his hand excruciatingly slowly down her dress, so that she could feel his hands tracing her curves. He slipped his hand under her dress and caressed her smooth skin, causing her to wrap her leg around his hip to encourage his actions. When they broke the kiss with a loud smack, Hinamori was blushing madly (or was it the alcohol) and her lips were a satisfying shade of swollen pink.
"When I'm more sober tomorrow, say that to me again so I can remember every word," she said.
"As you wish."
He didn't know how long he spent staring down at her like she presented the most exquisite display he'd seen all evening and he didn't care. His teal eyes bored into her hazel ones as he stroked her cheek with the pad of his thumb. It was he who broke their eye contact to admire the rest of her beautiful form. He noticed her bared shoulders, the way her dress boasted her feminine curves and how it had hiked up to expose her thighs. Returning his gaze back to her face, he saw the first signs of weariness kicking in. He gave her a soft smile and pressed a chaste kiss to her lips.
"Are we going to make love now?" she asked innocently (ironically enough) and tried to stifle a yawn.
"No, not like this," Hitsugaya answered and tucked her hair behind her ear. "Sleep."
"Tomorrow?" she asked again as her eyelids became too heavy to remain opened.
"Maybe," he teased. He wondered if she even knew what she was talking about. As she drifted off to sleep, he kissed her forehead and brought the blankets up to cover her sleeping form.
