Mary stands next to Dean in the kitchen as she watches him pile freshly baked cookies onto a plate for Santa. He'd insisted that they had to make them themselves. "It's specialler," he'd told her when she'd brought him to the cookie section at the store.

Mary pays close attention when Dean reaches for the milk carton to fill a glass of milk and helps him poor the liquid into the glass instead of onto the table.

This is how Christmas should be, Mary thinks as Dean takes the plate of cookies and makes his way to the living room.
