I posted a Cam POV of Wannabe the other day but it wouldn't let me go, so now I offer an Angela POV as well.
Paradigm Shift
Pungent cordite and the sickly sweet tang of blood linger in Angela's olfactory senses for hours.
She offers support at the hospital but barely meets Brennan's eyes, who is, thankfully, often oblivious of such hints of wrongness, even without her current burden of fear and guilt.
Angela always looked through the veneer of haughtiness and aloofness to see that she was far from a cold person.
But something awful niggles in the back of her mind now and she can't talk to Brennan until she figures it out. She misses Booth as a sounding board and Hodgins is no help these days.
She squeezes her eyes shut. Brennan picked up that gun too easily, didn't hesitate enough before the kill shot.
It's not the same as the martial arts (always handy on a girls night out), and the lack of remorse frightens her, despite her rational understanding that Pam shot someone she- …cared deeply for, on top of adrenaline and a strong protective instinct.
She really is her father's daughter, she thinks unbidden.
Suddenly Angela doubts herself, her own ability to read people (Brennan); battles an unwelcome worry if there's a cold-hearted killer in there she never wanted to see.
This is kind of anxious and disquieting obviously, but I was looking for the less obvious ways to approach that dramatic ending of Wannabe, so I hope you liked it nonetheless.
