Footnotes In History

In a thousand years, he will just be a footnote in the history books.

Many of his descendants will have outgrown his name, to become part of a different line with a different history tied to it.

All his grand achievements—that he chalked up to pure dumb luck—might be passed down through his line, told like old legends or scary bed time stories or might be forgotten all together.

People will stop instantly relating Harry Potter to savior. He won't be the Boy-Who-Lived anymore. He'll just be a paragraph in the History of Magic texts that no students read anyway—only the Hermione Grangers of the next generations will be well versed in his short lived story.

Maybe some new evil will arise and another scared shitless teenage boy will have to grow up in a heartbeat to become the epic hero amongst disaster, chaos, and tragedy. The world will have a new person synonymous to hope.

Harry Potter will be all but forgotten.

But he will have lived a full life.

He could boast having a loving family—something he had wanted more than anything his entire life. He watched his kids grow up and live even grander lives after him. He had a wife who loved him unconditionally through it all. He had friends who never left his side—fiercely loyal to him no matter what. And that's all that mattered—the people he loved and loved him back, not the things he did.

Besides, he never really cared about being remembered anyway.
