Much to her embarrassment, Suki realized she spent too much of her youth breaking up the brawl of drunk men in taverns back home than knowing the basics of cooking rice. Katara was particularly grumpy that night when the rice seemed to be in a bizarre state of having it look like gruel with a distinctly burnt smell. The waterbender hated wasting food.

"D'you think Katara would let us near the campfire again?" Suki asked.

Zuko shrugged in annoyance, he was slightly peeved himself, "Not holding my breath."

"I was just showing you and Toph how to bind an enemy's feet. How am I supposed to know she doesn't like that?"

"You'd think she'd aimed that earth spike at us somewhere safer."

She was new to this, and she would always apologize to Sokka for burning his fish.

But Sokka would always eat it and proclaimed it her best dish ever.

And it inspired Suki as she decided to do better.

When Suki finally made a decent lunch edible enough to be eaten by her friends, she was surprised that Aang did not touch his plate. "I don't eat meat." he told her apologetically.

Which once again made Sokka put up a long speech why fish is not meat as Aang silently pushed his share to Zuko, as his strange way to punish the warrior by not giving him an extra meal.

In the evening, Suki gave the Avatar bread, as she and Katara made last minute shopping that afternoon.

Aang smiled, "This is delicious. Thanks."

Mai voiced her wish to do something special for Zuko's birthday.

Impulsively Suki suggested baking, something she wanted to do as well.

It was when the cake was burnt beyond recognition that they finally decided to get Aang.
