She kept away, careful to never fall deep within the spell that he always cast when holding her.
About a few decades ago, while sitting beside him, his hands tangled in her hair as her mouth was being filled with his essence when it finally clicked.
He owned her soul.
Though it typically couldn't be literal, he had a way with keeping her so sated, so lost and absorbed within him that eventually she simply forgot who or what she was.
Persephone didn't like not being in the know.
Since then she made sure to pull herself into a tight cocoon and walk away when she knew she'd crumble under his power.
"Persephone" his voice called to her while she'd been so absorbed in her thoughts that she never heard him enter their bedroom.
She stood, hands at her side and watched as he slowly pursued her across the room. He touched her hand, unfolding it from its tight clench and kissed it.
Swallowing hard, she turned away trying to not break down.
Damn this was becoming so hard now.
He called her name again and she caught sight of his fingers just a second before they pulled at her chin causing her to look at him. Those blue fierce eyes seemed to pierce her will as she fell into his chest. Sobs broke through her as she knotted his clothing within her hands.
How could he? How could he do this to her by a simple look?
Then he leaned down, his mouth just by her ear and whispered to her the words that seemed to be her undoing. "I need you, my dearest."
And just like that, she became his without a moment's hesitation.
To hell with pride.
She was already living in an unforgiving sin and couldn't seem to quench the thirst or want to.
