A/N Written for Twin Exchange October Challenge Prompt: A Missing Item Pairing: Charlie/Luna Quote: "Nobody said it was going to be easy" Theme: Halloween
Thanks for the help Kara! You rock as a beta!
"Luna have you seen my..." Charlie yelled as he walked into his living room "left shoe" He finished lamely as she held it out to him.
"How is it love, that you right shoe can be one place and your left another?"
Charlie shrugged and sat to put his other shoe on. "I don't know, there must be some sort of mysterious creature that moves peoples belonging."
As her usual Luna didn't release he was joking " Oh no you don't think you have an infestation of yarklins, do you?" She asked peeking behind the drapes.
Charlie laughed and pulled her into his arms "Luna, just in case you forgot, I love you."
Luna smiled dreamily up at him. "I didn't forget, it still amazes me, now let's go before Ginny blows a gasket. She has already owled me twice this morning."
"I think she is a little nervous it's the first Halloween party she is throwing, and she forbid Mum to help so it should be interesting."
When they arrived at Ginny's they found poor Neville hip deep in pumpkin guts and covered in slime. It looked as if he had crawled inside it and fought his way back out.
"Neville! What happened to you?" Charlie asked suppressing a laugh
"That's a great costume; I wish I had thought of it. What are you exactly?" Luna asked
Neville turned a deep shade of red and muttered something about Ginny insisting that they carve the pumpkins the muggle way because that's how Molly always does them. Charlie had a feeling it was one of his brothers ideas of bad joke. His Mum had never carved a pumpkin without magic that he had seen. Added to that he wasn't sure how the pumpkin pie was going to taste with essence of Neville all over it. He would have to remember not to eat any.
Ginny wasn't in much better shape, her hair was sticking out at odd angles as if she had been pulling on it and it looked as if she had bathed herself in flour. Charlie nearly turned and ran for the door hoping he could make an escape before she noticed him. It was too late Luna was already walking into the chaos; it wouldn't be chivalrous to leave the girl he loved behind.
Luna calmly walked into the room and gave the harassed looking Ginny a hug.
"I can't believe you and Neville are in costume already" She said brightly "Where would you like me to start?"
Ginny just started at her for several moments, Luna's front was now covered in flour and bits of food that had dropped on Ginny as she ran around, and did not seem the least bit worried about it.
"You could start to decorate the yard, the streamers and such are in a box in the lounge."
"Okay," Luna said brightly and skipped happily out of the room
"You know Mum would have helped you Gin? You look like hell by the way."
"Thanks so much, I can handle it. Why don't you go help my lovely husband with pumpkins?"
Soon after Harry and Ron arrived and things seemed to be under control, the pumpkins did look great even if their faces were somewhat lopsided.
"I am never carving giant pumpkins again in my life." Neville said as soon as they were finished. "That was the messiest thing I have ever done." He still had bits of pumpkin stuck to him.
Ginny had come out to check on the progress and said testily "Nobody said it was going to be easy," Before stomping back in the house.
Charlie had been right this was interesting and Ginny seemed a little over burdened, why the girl insisted on doing all the baking herself was beyond him. He was glad when the time came for him and Luna to leave and get dressed for the party.
