THE OC FANFICTION: HOME FOR A SNACK
Disclaimer: Own nothing- if I did, Marissa would be alive and happily together with Ryan and the OC would still be on tv.
Info: I've been thinking about this for a while and just finally wrote it. Tell me what you think! One shot. R+R! :
Kirsten looked up as she heard the front door close. "Anybody home?" She heard Ryan's voice ring through the house.
"In the kitchen, sweetie!" Kirsten turned back to feeding little Sophie in her high-chair.
Ryan walked into the kitchen and lit up when he saw Sophie. "Hi Soph!" he tickled her feet and laughed when she giggled and squirmed. "Hey, I'm just home quickly. I have my next architecture lecture in like, forty minutes and I have to print out a few things beforehand back at the dorm, but just thought I'd pop in, say hi, steal a bagel. The usual." He laughed as he peered through the refrigerator.
"Sounds good! Seth called earlier, everything's good at RISD, he sends his love and a few new comic books. Apparently he hasn't grasped the concept that most two year olds don't generally read comic books yet." Kirsten smiled.
"Well I'm sure Seth was a very special two year old. But I'm not surprised, he wants Soph to share his love for them. He's just jealous that she looks more like me than him." Ryan chuckled as he schmeared a bagel.
"This is true."
Sophie smiled and raised her arms to Ryan. Ryan put down his bagel obligingly and picked her up. "Hey you!"
"Ry!" Ryan smiled when she said his name and tickled her stomach again. She started laughing and Ryan turned back to Kirsten.
"So Seth shot me an email saying that he'd be coming home this weekend and not to tell you because it was supposed to be a surprise."
"Really?" Kirsten laughed. "Well I think you just spoiled his fun."
"Oh, he doesn't have to know." Ryan said seriously. "But anyway, I just wanted to check if you guys were free Friday night because we were thinking family dinner somewhere nice?" He said questioningly.
Kirsten smiled at his use of "family" and replied, "Absolutely. Sounds great!"
"Okay I'll ask Seth where he's thinking. I'll make sure this one doesn't have a comic book theme." Ryan winked. "Anyway, I gotta run." He handed Sophie back to Kirsten and smiled at her. "Bye Soph!" His phone rang and he put up his finger in the "one second" gesture and walked out of the room, grabbing his bagel on the way out. "Okay, yeah, sure. Sounds good. Bye." He turned to Kirsten. "Gotta run."
Kirsten smiled at how comfortable Ryan was now and how much a part of the family he really was these days. Sophie saw him as her older brother, Seth saw him as his brother, and both Sandy and Kirsten saw him as their son. Even strangers thought that Ryan was a part of the family because Sophie looked remarkably like Ryan and Kirsten with her blond hair as it was getting longer. Berkeley was amazing. It had brought them all closer.
"Bye Mom!" Ryan called through the house just before the front door slammed shut. Kirsten stood in stunned silence. Ryan had called her Mom. Ryan knew he was a part of the family from the beginning, but he had never called her Mom. Kirsten was extremely surprised, but so happy. At that moment, Sandy walked downstairs from their bedroom on the second level after having been on a business call but having heard everything.
Sandy walked over to Kirsten and pulled her and Sophie (who was still comfortably sitting in Kirsten's arms) into a big hug and kissed Kirsten on the forehead. "You did good." He whispered.
