He loved her.
Even though her perfectionism and infamous Maka chops grated against his nerves.
He loved her.
Even if she was stubborn and pig headed, he couldn't hold that against her because he was the same.
He loved her.
Even when they would argue over the smallest things, like when he left a spoon in the sink or when he forgot to do the laundry when it was his turn.
He loved her.
Until she came, he was hollow. Not caring about others, only himself. She filled the emptiness and made him see. Making him appreciate the things around him which seemed like nothing but useless things.
He loved her.
When he felt her wavelength prodding his own, his first defense was to flare his own in warning.. Afraid of letting her see his flaws, his faults. But as time came to pass and he felt her soul wavelength nudge his own, questioning and curious, he prodded right back, as eager to learn about her as she was about him.
He loved her.
He found himself eager to make her smile more. From cleaning up his messes to taking her for rides around Death City on his bike.
He loved her.
He felt like he would burst if he kept his feelings locked up in the darkest corners of his heart any longer. So without warning while she was heading for the kitchen to make them dinner he grabbed her by the arm and wheeled her around to face him.
"I love you."
He saw her eyes widen and her body stiffen. He sighed and let her go to go sit on the couch, indifference in his posture but inside he felt a heavy weight settle on his heart as silence followed after his confession. He gave a startled grunt when he felt arms loop around his neck and felt her head rest against his own.
"I love you too."
It came out as embarrassed squeak, but it didn't bother him in the least.
