A week had passed since that first time she had seen the creature. Since that time Harry had seen it several times each day as she wandered the halls at night. Harry had realized after the first time that the creature was hurt. No one had believed her after she had described the black creature to them the best she could without having been close to it. Hermione on the other hand had shaken her head in disgust at her and walked away after telling Harry that she had been watching too much of the Alien movies. Harry had tried to protest but Hermione had simply replied, "You doth protest too much," before walking away.

Harry had finally given up on trying to convince anyone of the truth of what she had seen. She didn't see any real point in doing so. Harry still had to wonder though, what had Hermione meant by Alien movies? Harry stood up from her perch on the window sill and moved to her trunk; reaching inside of it she shuffled around until she unearthed her invisibility cloak from it only to slip it around her shoulders and over her head. Slipping down the staircase was tricky as the stairs tended to creak when one was trying to sneak down or up them as she did not want to be caught with her invisibility cloak on and slipped out of the common room through the entrance that was hidden behind the portrait of the Fat Lady.

A low hiss filled with pain drew Harry's attention to her immediate left and found herself face to face (or rather cloak to face)with the very creature everyone didn't believe existed. Taking the opportunity Harry studied the creature before her more thoroughly. It was darker then unburned coal but seemed to shine with blue in certain lighting. The head was large and had no eyes. Saliva dripped from its parted jaws as it too seemed to study her even as she studied it. A sudden thought hit her, what if its hissing was its language? Clearing her throat she concentrated on its pained hissing and was gratified to discover that she could indeed understand it. "Are you alright?" The creature seemed to freeze at her words before it suddenly fled from her. "Did I do something wrong?" Harry's questioned seemed to echo in the long dark hall in which she stood.
