"If you look to your left you'll see..." Brightheart meowed in earnest then stopped, "I keep forgeting that you are blind Jaypaw."
I hate being blind, so I retorted, "The flat plains of WindClan, and to my right is more of our territory and then the forests of ShadowClan, the lake is right in front of me."
I really hate being blind, everyone treats me like a newborn! Even my mother! Especially Stormfur, he is always going on about something to another cat and then he will spot me and come over meowing, "'How is my favorite apprentice? What did you spo-smell today in your lessons of the forest?'" At least by brother Lionpaw and my sister Hollypaw don't treat me that way.
But EVERYONE does it! They will be chatting to me about something and then say something about seeing and stumble to find a word to make it up! It gets more annoying than a thorn in your side and the tast of mouse bile on your tounge at the same time.
The only cat more annoying than Stormfur is Leafpool. She brings my brother, sister and me treats, like honey to lick of a leaf or something to play with, just because I am blind and they have to slow down sometimes because of my blindness. I would feel better if she gave some stuff to the other kits and apprentices but, NO! It is just my brother, sister, and me.
How would you like it if someone took pity on you just because of something that doesn't even really slow you down? Would you like it? Probably not.
Just then I noticed that Brightheart was bumping her head against my side, "What?" I snarled in defiance.
"Well, you were staring of into space for so long, I got worried." She meowed, "and your mother would never forgive me if anything happened to you."
"Well you can stop worring, I was thinking that's all," I snapped at her, "my mom probably doesn't know where I am right now."
"Well maybe I souldn't worry at all then, mister I-don't-think-my-mom-knows-where-I-am," she turned away from the lake, which I was still facing, and meowed sharply, "besides, it is getting late and we want to be back in camp before sundown." With that she loped of towards the camp.
I knew for a fact that the sun had just reached the peak of its climb, because of the way the rays heated up my back. She sould have just said her intentions in the first place, 'I don't want to wait to long, snail.'
With that thought, I decided to follow her scent back to camp, to end another day of pity, and begin it all over again.
