-1This conversation happened a couple of days ago with one of my 6-year-old students - I don't know what they're teaching kids these days!! I think she assumed a few things based on her knowledge of the world and came up with an interesting 'fact'!

The whirlwind that was Daniel Jackson, now currently five years old with no memory of his adult life thanks to Sam Carter touching something she shouldn't have, slammed in his foster father's arms. "Daddydaddydaddy!"

"Hey, sport." Jack O'Neill, currently guardian to the little linguist, hugged Daniel back. "Did you have fun at kinder today?"

"Yep! We learned about the Ancient Olympics." Daniel squirmed out of the hug and then pulled Jack over to the couch so that he could tell him all about the subject. "Did you know that they used to be naked when they were running instead of wearing clothes?" He giggled at the thought.

"I think I've heard that before," Jack stated, keeping a straight face.

"Well, they were, but there weren't any women, just men, and the women weren't even allowed to watch unless they were married," Daniel reported.

Jack nodded. "That makes sense." He wasn't going to explain why if Daniel asked though.

"And there weren't any women in the Ancient Olympics because the men were naked, and the men didn't compete in teams but by themselves, and when they ran there was only two of them, and they fell down at the end and then the men kissed and they had to get married. And because it's supposed to be a man and woman getting married, not a man and a man, then they had to let women in the Olympics," Daniel recited seriously.

Jack had to resist the urge to laugh at the story, which was extremely hard. Somehow, he had never heard that particular story about the Ancient Olympians before. "They didn't like the men kissing, huh?" He mentally patted himself on the back for keeping a straight face when asking that question.

"Nuh-uh," Daniel said, shaking his head.

As Daniel continued talking about the events in the Ancient Olympics, Jack made a mental note to ask Daniel's teacher just exactly she was teaching the kids - because somehow, he was certain that kissing and marriage between male Olympians hadn't been on the agenda!!
