…yeah not sure. I wrote this awhile ago and figured I should post it. Guess to prove to everyone that I'm not dead. ;D

SIMPLE

is anything but.

It started simple enough.
They could tolerate each other and seemed to be the only ones who could so they started sleeping together.
It wasn't a relationship, it was a mutual understanding. No commitment, no promises.
Romance had no place in their lives, as the only whispered words would start out with a breathy "Lie to me."
Marik had been the one to start it, and it had continued on. Eventually Bakura continued with the 'tradition' and would whisper the starting phrase.
What followed the phrase was exactly what it asked for.
"I love you."
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"You're the only one for me."
It was the perfect relationship.
Until it happened.
Marik had fallen.
He hadn't dared reveal this revelation to Bakura, for he knew that the silver-haired thief would break whatever it was that they had off.
Marik continued on, his heart breaking a little more each time they were together and he had to 'lie'. One day he broke and could not take it anymore, he had to tell the stealer of his heart.
So when Bakura whispered that phrase, "Lie to me." Marik did.
"I hate you." He promised.
"I never want to see you for the rest of my life." He muttered.
"You're not the one I want to be with." He vowed.
Everything stopped and the silence was deafening. Marik was sure that at any second he would be forced out of the room.
And then it finally happened.
"I hate you too." Bakura replied.
