The Legend of Zelda: the Wolf Howls at Midnight … not 11:59, not 12:01, but midnight. Because that makes it dark and poetic, right?

As with my other fanfiction, I've recently had a few people show interest in my old story. Reading it now… god it really takes me back. I remember being in high school-in friggin history class, thinking about this story and writing it in my head … where does the time go?

I have no intention of finishing this story. Though I flirt with the idea occasionally … I think my fanfic writing days are far over. I remember a lot of other pieces I wrote in the past and I really regret deleting them from my page … my initial Inuyasha/Wishmaster crossover … my entries for Avatarjki37's A Winner is You … oh well. For whatever reason, this one remains and for any of those who still care I will now tell you what was going to happen … or at least as much as I can remember…

The general story I had in mind was the remnants of a dark and ancient god-the fourth piece to the triforce, the fourth god responsible for creating the world-was regaining strength, seeking to resurrect itself into its true divine form. To do this, he needed the Goddess's chosen hero, needed to corrupt him with his own black triforce. To prevent this from happening, Zelda and Midna used their magic to transform Link into a wolf and erase everyone's memories of him in order to hide him from … Doran, I think I named the god. The dreams Link has of Ordon village burning, of all his friends dying are vaguely prophetic but also a means of this dark god to find him … which he does.

Link would try to reach Zelda at Death Mountain but would ultimately fail and contemplate suicide. He elects to live, however, determined to regain his human form, all the while the black triforce in his paw feeds off his hate, empowering the god.

The Black God's presence in the world is sort of like a cancer in the world that distorts everything, sort of like a radiation leak. Him just manifesting in an ethereal form causes the goron's to get violent and cannibalistic, the Zora's become withered, vicious creatures and the lands begin to die. You know, biblical catastrophes and such… dying field, diseased cows, boiling seas-dogs and cats living together-MASS HYSTERIA!

There are few gaps in my memory.

I recall Zelda and Midna setting up Collin-that little blonde kid, the sword guy's son, I think-as a false Hero, even going as far as bestowing him with the triforce of courage.

There would be a conflict between collin and wolf Link, resulting in links near death.

Link and midna would be reunited and she would go on to explain her and Zelda's plan.

Link more or less becomes evil, driven insane by the suffering and rage he suffered over the years, trapped in his wolf form.

The black god is restored (A little side note on his origin-I think the seed of inspiration for him came when I realized there were four light spirits. If my memory serves, three of them represented each of the goddesses, but that left us with one spirit left sort of left out kind of like ordan village is left out of Hyrule, and the Black God isn't truly one of them. Also, it is implied Doran is the one who caused Ganondorf's death when he took the Triforce of Power from him-which explained why it just vanished off the back of his at the climax of TP)

Here the gaps in my memory become enormous.

I believe the black god, now done with Link, attempts to kill him by burning him alive, then departs to destroy the world his "sisters" had created. Midna begs Zelda to heal Link, and taking pity, she does, lifting curse of of him and restoring his human self.

Link would then reclaim the triforce of courage and the master sword and use them to slay Doran.

Afterwards, Zelda and Midna ask Link to help them restore Hyrule, however, tired of being used by them and the Goddesses, he pretty much tells them to fuck off and leaves them to deal with the mess. He goes back to Ordan village, reclaims Epona and rides off into the sunset, a free man off to make his own destiny.

And that's that. There was more, much much more, but it's been too long ago for me to recall. I used to have a binder with all my notes but that was lost several moves ago. I apologize if you're disappointed that I won't be continuing. I hope this summary-spotty as it is-gives you some semblance of closure.

AI out.
