Hey, everyone! I know I've been somewhat absent from here for a while, but I'm back for this short amount of time. Haha. This was written for serenitysmalfoy on LJ, but I figured I owed FFN something. I've been reading like mad, just no posting. Personally, I'm more of a Caleb/Pogue fan, but in an exchange, I write what's requested. ) This is my first Covenant fic, so please be nice! Any flames will be laughed at.

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Though I would love to own Pogue.

Scared
One-shot

Tyler sat on the couch, hunched over while his eyes peaked out between soaking strands. Blue pools watched the man across from him pace, almost wincing when Pogue turned around and glared at him.

"What were you thinking?" Pogue's voice was harsh, and Tyler felt himself sink a little further into the couch as he pulled the towel tighter around his shoulders. He was going to kill Reid. That is, if Caleb didn't do it first. He could hear Caleb chewing Reid out in the other room, and looking at Pogue, Tyler almost wished he was in there instead of where he was. And here he thought he was going to get off easy with Pogue. Or at least he'd thought that until Pogue had closed the door and faced him, eyes aflame.

Crap.

"What were you thinking?" Pogue asked again as he stopped pacing. He took Tyler's face in his hand, leveling their gazes. "Tyler."

"I...it was Reid's fault?" Tyler tried, and wanted to smack himself.

Pogue snorted. "And since when is that new? This was a new level of stupid on both of your parts."

"I know." And he did. He should have known the second he'd seen that glint in Reid's eyes that it was a bad idea. That glint always meant one of two things. One: They were going to get arrested. And two: If they didn't get arrested, Caleb and Pogue were going to kill them. Guess which one they got?

It had been a stupid idea, really. Reid and him had been at Nicky's again and, like always, Reid had felt the overwhelming urge to hussle a group of bikers three times their size. Reid had, like usual, won and the guys had been, again as usual, pissed. And what did Reid do? He egged them on. The guys had gotten a bit violent after that. Sure, they could have used and gotten rid of them, but after the whole Chase debacle, they'd all agreed to not use the Power unless it was necessary. Two guys, both bigger than Tyler could ever hope to be had cornered him and were probably about to kill him had Pogue and Caleb not followed the yells. Pogue had distracted the two, overpowering them both...with a bit of magical aid, that is. Now that he thought of it, why wasn't Caleb yelling at Pogue for using?

"Then why do it?" Pogue's voice went another octave higher, and Tyler lowered his gaze, not able to stare at almost pained expression in Pogue's eyes.

"I don't know," Tyler whispered.

Pogue let out a heavy sigh, hanging his head for a moment in exasperation before he rose it again. Tyler had thought he was going to begin yelling, like he could still hear Caleb doing a room over, but instead, Pogue kissed him. The kiss was hard, angry, and almost desperate. The hard and angry aspects, Tyler understood perfectly, and though the desperation should have been surprising, it wasn't. Since Chase, Pogue had been holding onto them just that little bit more. He wasn't stupid enough to say it aloud, but Tyler knew. Pogue had almost lost Kate, and even though they'd broken up, it had hit him hard. He'd almost lost Kate, they could have lost Caleb, and that scared Pogue.

It scared him, too.
