A/N: Here's another LWD drabble-y ficlet. I got the inspiration from a scene in Juno. And it's another painting oneshot. :) Enjoy. R&R! Thanks! –Mac
Disclaimer: I don't own LWD.
Nesting
When Derek walked into the room, Casey was staring intently at the wall. Her brow was furrowed as she examined the two stripes of paint that stood out on the plain white wall. She looked adorable with that concentrated look on her face, paint smudged on her cheek, and one hand resting on her round belly. He walked further into the room and pressed a kiss to her cheek. She turned to him and smiled.
"Hey."
"Hey yourself," Derek responded softly, "What are you doing?"
"Trying to decide between Bubblegum Pink and Rosy Blush," Casey answered. She tilted her head to observe the wall again. "What do you think?"
Derek turned to look at the nearly identical shades of pink. He said the first one that came to mind and pointed it out, "Bubblegum."
"That's Rosy Blush," Casey said, her hands finding her hips.
"Then Rosy Blush, that's what I meant, sorry," Derek corrected.
Casey shook her head, "Your first instinct was to say Bubblegum. Please look again. You have to be sure."
"Does it really matter?" Derek asked, "They look the same to me."
"Of course it matters!" Casey exclaimed. "I want this room to be perfect. Having the right color paint is important. Just like the right crib is important, just like the right furniture is important, just like the right theme is important!"
"Okay, Casey, calm down. I know it's important. I want this room to be as perfect as you do for our baby girl, but honestly Casey…" Derek softly turned Casey back toward the wall. "They look like the exact same color."
Casey sighed, "I know. But what do you think, which should we do?"
Derek wrapped his arms around her, and kissed the side of her hair, "Let's do both."
Casey laughed, "You sure do know how to get out of making a decision."
"It's my specialty." Derek responded with a chuckle.
