Fic: Guaranteed Explosion, Every Time
Author: justinebeckoning
Rating: PG, just some innocent fluff.
Warning: It's a little slashy, but what else did you expect from me?
Disclaimer: I'm not Dan Schneider. You didn't know?
Author's Note: Just a silly drabble between longer fics. This was actually inspired by a conversation about the strudel incident in "Foam Finger" and what might have happened if Megan wouldn't have walked in at that precise moment.
Josh had his gold Premiere vest clutched in one hand and the doorknob gripped in the other when he heard the strange sounds coming from inside his room. He took his hand off the knob and pressed his ear to the door. His eyes widened as the noises became clearer; he could make out excited "mmmm"s and "ohhhh"s, interspersed with the occasional "wahoo!" As his mind went through the possibilities of what might be causing such Drake-sounds, he decided that knocking might be in order.
No answer. "Drake?" he ventured.
Still no answer. Josh opted to forego modesty and open the door. There was his stepbrother, bouncing up and down in the middle of the floor in his cowboy pajamas like a pogo stick.
"Dude, what are you doing?"
Drake shook his head violently. "Shhh, not right now," he mumbled through a full mouth. His socks skidded to a stop on the floor in front of the couch. "I'm experiencing the candy." He elongated the last word for dramatic effect.
"Oh, well, don't let me interrupt your special moment then," Josh said sarcastically as he walked over to the desk. He picked up an empty box off of the pile that had collected there, shaking his head at his brother's candy obsession.
Drake finally swallowed the candy with a highly contented "Ahhh." He walked over to Josh. "Only the most amazing candy in the universe," he said, pointing to the label's claim. "Ordered them online. They came in the mail today."
Josh studied the box. "Aren't they just fancy Pop Pebbles? I haven't eaten those since I was five."
"No, no, no, my brotha," Drake scolded. "These are Super Mega Galaxy Rocks. See here? Says they're a guaranteed explosion in your mouth, every time."
"Right." Josh tried his hardest to act uninterested, although he felt his resistance beginning to crumble.
"And..." Drake announced proudly, "look what they do to your mouth." He stuck his multicolored tongue out at Josh.
"Aaaaw, man, rainbow-colored?" Yep, resistance gone, check.
Drake grinned. "Want some?"
"Uh huh," Josh answered quickly.
"Too bad." Drake smile became a smirk. "'Cause I've got the last box right here."
Josh and Drake exchanged glances, slowly leaning in toward each other and eyeballing the other for any sudden movements. Then Josh leapt forward and lunged at Drake, knocking him back onto the couch. Drake managed to get in a few smacks to the seat of Josh's pants with his candy-less hand, amidst the shouts of "You gimme those!" and "I want that candy!" The tussling continued until Drake pulled away with an impish grin, holding the candy just out of Josh's reach.
"Wanna share?" he asked, looking innocent.
Josh moved off of Drake and sat back on the couch, wondering why he hadn't thought of the idea in the first place. "Sure, you get half the box and I..." He stopped as he saw Drake pouring the entire box of candy into his mouth. "Hey! What do you think--"
Drake cut him off. "Hey, I said we'd share, right?" he said. Then he grinned as seductively as he could with a mouthful of candy. "So come and get your half." As Josh leaned in to claim his prize, he thanked his lucky stars for Drake's foolish, immature, and completely absurd candy obsession.
Later that night, Josh ordered three more boxes of Super Power Galaxy Rocks, making extra sure that the "Express Delivery" option was marked.
