Vignettes 2
Starfire
Delenn still in the terrible light. She was not leaving the Starfire Wheel, as she had promised to do.
Delenn had so much to live for. Her true love, and her son. She could not be allowed to sacrifice herself.
He had no such true love for whom to live. His true love was gone, dead, sacrificed – to protect his own one true love. Whose one true love was also gone, in a different way.
How terrible, for the one who had something to live for to die, and the one who did not to go on in this empty, miserable existence.
He walked into the starfire.
He was going to join his love. His unrequited love. In the place where martyrs go. Where unrequited lovers go.
He set Delenn outside.
But he had made a mistake. He was warrior caste. If he died in the Starfire Wheel instead of Delenn, then his own caste would lead -- those conniving, self-serving – killers of Minbari.
As he had once set out to be. Until his love gave him a revelation.
He knew what he had to say to set it right.
"I was born warrior caste. But now I see the calling of my heart is religious!"
