Saya and the Sandwich

Haji P.O.V.

I looked down at the beautiful girl asleep in my arms. It was a little after midnight, and Saya's nighttime routine was running a little late tonight. I wondered when it would start.

Her eyes fluttered open and she nuzzled my neck. "Haji...?" she muttered.

Ah, here it is. "Yes, my love?"

"Can you get me a sandwich?" Called it.

"Saya, it's late, and you know that you get nightmares when you eat late at night." She didn't really get nightmares, but many a time have I been kicked in the middle of the night and called Solomon. I asked her about it once, and she swears that she was having pleasant dreams about kicking the snot out of him. And I had to admit that it was likely, for I have many bruises to prove it. Although one never knows when it comes to people in this century...

"But I'm hungry, Haji." She had now tried to sway me by staring at me with her really cute big reddish brown eyes... and, aw crap... the pouting lip! She knows full and well that I can never resist the pouting lip. I had to be strong, and usually not for this long. Normally, she was too tired to care at this point. I decided to indulge her for the sake of making her feel better about not getting a sandwich.

"But, Saya, my love, you need your sleep. You have been having trouble sleeping through the night, lately."

"Says you. And I do need a sandwich." She was now nearly fully awake and therefore her arguing skills were getting better.

"Sleep is more important." Fall for it, fall for it, fall for it!!

"Sandwich." Darn.

"Sleep, now."

She situated herself in my arms and pressed her face into my neck, kissing it lightly. "I bet Kai would have gotten me a sandwich," she whispered.

Ouch. That stung.

I decided to play off my pain and turn it into sarcasm. "I'm sure he would."

"And I'm sure that Solomon would have gotten me one, too." Oh, just rip my heart out, why don't you!

"Fine," I begrudgingly got up to go out of the room, full intending to get my beloved Saya, her precious sandwich that she desired.

Before I made it out of the room, I heard Saya call, "Haji...?" I turned around. "I love you, and thank you for getting me my sandwich." I turned to leave once more when Saya called to me again. "Haji, one more thing," I nodded, " peanut butter, smooth, jelly, preferably grape, on white bread with the crust off and into triangles, please. Thank you."

"If that is your wish, Saya."

I left her on the bed and proceeded to get Saya her sandwich. Lucky for me, Kai had just enough in his tiny little kitchen to get what I needed for Saya's midnight snack. Woo-hoo.

When I returned to Saya's room, I found her in the last stages of her nighttime routine. Snuggling a pillow, fast asleep.

Sighing, I shuffled back to the kitchen, dejected, and put the sandwich into the fridge, to be devoured by my Queen at another time.

Sadly, this, too, happened every night.

This is the end. I am far too tired to do the snappy jingle that I'm known for in the Twilight fandom, so just review for a tired girl who spent the night, after swim practice, a hard practice, all for you.

PLEASE??
