"Grrr, Danny Fenton!" he knew HU was her favourite band and she couldn't resist anything HU related.
Maybe he has tickets to a secret show? She gushed to herself as she flitted across the soft carpet – that covered every inch of her massive bedroom – to her walk in closet. She skimmed through the racks of plaid skirts and black tops wondering what Danny had in store.
And Tucker! She reminded herself. What did Danny AND Tucker have in store?
Her hands slowed as she wedged her toe into the plush carpet, worrying a slight spot in it. It couldn't be THAT special if Danny was inviting Tucker. Not that Tucker wasn't welcomed. It was just in the last few weeks, she'd felt something intensifying between Danny and herself.
Maybe more people were invited. Maybe it wasn't something special. MAYBE the whole damn school and Paulina was going, she thought getting less excited as she thought about it. The possibilities began to put a damper on her mood. Instead of being in a hurry to face the news she was dreading it.
"It's Danny's fault anyway, he should have told me what the surprise was," she reasoned to herself as she pulled a few clothing options from the racks and then dumped them in a pile on the bed "He deserves to wait outside with Tucker".
She stretched making up her mind, she wouldn't rush down stairs as they both had expected.
No!
She'd let them wait - and the first order on her list of time wasting would be; a Nice. Hot! LONG shower!
Danny and Tucker leaned against the Fenton RV waiting for Sam.
"What's taking Sam?" Tucker asked kicking the tires "I know we have a whole extra day for this road trip but let's get on the road"
"Yea, this is unlike Sam, she usually jumps at the mention of HU" Danny groaned throwing is head back. He groaned again as his head hit the side of the RV. He rubbed his head while looking at his watch.
20 minutes?
"Maybe something ghostly happened" Tucker suggested getting excited at the prospect of some ghost action.
"Ghostly?" Danny scoffed "It may be unnatural but it sure isn't ghostly. My sister takes this amount of time just to pick out her shoes. Knowing Sam she's just wondering if she should pack a bag"
"Right! We didn't tell her it was a weekend trip"
"I'll go tell her" Danny suggested, more quickly than one would expect. Before Tucker knew it Danny was floating up to Sam's balcony window then phasing through it.
"That should do it," Sam told herself as she finished up her makeup and began to take her hair curlers out. She had been holding off on a trim and now she was glad she had. "Take that Paulina!"
I look good she thought as she stood from her seat at her vanity and bent to look at herself more closely in the semi steamy mirror. She had forgotten to close the door to her en suit bathroom and the steam from her shower was making its way into her bedroom to warm the once icy cold mirror. She pulled the purple towel from around her and began to wipe the mirror clean before letting the towel fall to the ground. She was pulling the last few curlers out of her hair when she caught a glimpse of something behind her in the mirror. She spun around quickly, a paddle brush in her hand.
She looks…good. Danny thought as he watched Sam from the other side of the room. He really shouldn't be looking at her like this he tried to tell himself.
This is a great misuse of my power he told himself knowing she couldn't see him because he had made himself invisible, instinctively. He floated back down to the carpet, materializing. He should leave he thought to himself.
I should leave he told himself right as Sam spun around, wielding a brush as a weapon. He had thought she wore a cute pair of purple boy shorts with black skulls and a matching bra that had been concealed from behind by the waves of cascading jet black locks, but he had thought wrong. She was clad only in those boy shorts.
She stood there stunned giving Danny enough time to survey her body, her hair might have grown but it wasn't long enough to cover the tips of her breasts, which he noticed were pierced.
He groaned, closing his eyes.
That snapped Sam out of her stupor. She dropped the brush and her hands immediately flew to her chest to cover herself up.
"Danny, what the hell!?" she asked turning away from him, blushing profusely. She stared at him in the mirror.
"Sam," his voice broke as he opened one eye to check if she was decent.
"Danny!" He shut his eyes again, turning his face to the ceiling, not trusting himself not to look.
"Sam, I'm so sorry. You were taking so long – and we forgot to tell you to pack for 2 days – and – and well – I am so so sorry, Sam" he explained and pleaded "I promise never to mention this ever!"
"OH NO! We're gonna talk about this later Danny Phantom" she warned him as sternly as she could "I'll be down in a minute"
Never before had Danny been so thankfully for his powers. Why wish that the ground would open and swallow you whole when you could just phase through it.
"That took forever" Tucker commented as Danny came downstairs "What happened?"
"Nothing! Nothing happened! Why would anything have happened?" Danny asked nervously topping it off with a very fake and nervous laugh.
"Okay" Tucker said suspiciously.
"Let's just keep the engine running, she said she'd be down in a minute" Danny said trying to avoid any more talking.
Danny sat in the heavily modified RV, thinking about what he had seen.
When had she gotten those piercings? He wondered.
She had asked him to come with her and hold her hand when she had gotten her lip pierced.
I wonder what else she's had pierced.
As if sensing his naughty thoughts the door to the RV swung open allowing Sam to storm in. She looked right at Danny and he blushed looking down at her low cut black HU shirt before looking away. He could have sworn he saw the evident bulge of barely concealed piercings under her shirt.
"Where's your bag" Tucker asked "And what happened to your hair?"
"If that's your idea of a compliment Tuck, you need to work on it" she joked before turning a straight face to Danny. "My bag is upstairs beside my bed, Danny said he'd bring it down for me"
"Yea, sure, No prob" he scrambled accepting any excuse to leave the RV, this was going to be a long and hard road trip.
He got her bag quickly enough, but as he was about to leave he saw a piece of paper with his name on it on her bed. He picked it up and realised it was a note in Sam's handwriting, it read:
"Since you seemed to like these so much, keep them with you until I need them. - Sam"
He looked down on her bed and saw the purple and black boy shorts, he picked them up carefully and balled them in his fist. They were still warm…and a little…damp?
He groaned thinking of what Sam could have possibly been doing while she was up here after he had left. He placed the boy shorts in his back pocket and grabbed her bag.
This weekend was going to be longer and harder than he could have ever imagined.
