Kel/Faleron

Kel walked down the halls lost in thought, not really paying attention to where she was going. She wasn't usually one for absent-mindedness but she had a lot to think over lately. She knew she had to tell him but whenever she tried to imagine the conversation, her mind went blank. Without even noticing it, her feet had transported her directly in front of his doors.

She fancied Faleron - of that she was sure. But how much? And how long had it been going on? Every time he looked at her, her stomach fluttered and she tried to remember when this had started but for the life of her couldn't. Being confused was not a state of mind she was used to or comfortable with. Her mind reeled, her knees shook. Every time he looked at her, her breath came out rattly and her body caught fire. She blushed when he was around and couldn't focus when he watched her. She had to do something - this was disturbing her from her duties. Maybe telling him would make the feelings stop. Maybe. Argh.

But what if he hated her for liking him? What if he was disgusted with her and called her a girl? She shook her head; she was just being ridiculous now. Before she lost the confidence, Kel knocked loudly on the fellow squire's door.

Faleron's handsome face appeared at the door and she heard voices, her friends were in there. Great. This was exactly what she hadn't hoped for.

"Can I talk to you for a second, Fal?" She asked quietly.

He quirked an eyebrow, "sure."

"Um, outside?" His other eyebrow joined the previous one and he looked at her questioningly. Nodding, he closed the door behind him. Taking a deep breath, Kel explained everything to him slowly, watching his face for any sign of a reaction. She fought to call up her Yamani mask, and realized it had been too long since she'd practiced at it. She struggled to get her face under control and lost, knowing the redness of her embarrassment was climbing slowly up her neck.

She was about to make her excuses and go when he suddenly put a warm and calloused finger to her lips to silence her rambling. She looked at him and was caught up in a passionate kiss that left her absolutely breathless. She melted into the kiss wondering briefly why she had waited so long to tell him.

Their friends that had silently pried open the door to hear just looked at each other dumbfounded, none of them able to speak through their shock. Neal recovered first and his face broke into a huge grin matched swiftly by Roald and then the other boys.

Faleron finally broke the kiss and looked her in the eyes. She wished they could stay like that forever.

"Um, well, I should probably go to bed..." Kel muttered, staring intently at her shoes. Faleron nodded solemnly but caught her wrist when she turned to leave.

"Good night, Kel." his voice was husky and he pulled her into another kiss. This one lasted a lot less and left her feeling even more dazed. She shot him her most dazzling smile and walked back to her rooms. She felt like she was floating.

"Why didn't I tell him sooner?" she asked her empty rooms aloud.

With a startled gasp, Keladry of Mindelan woke from her sleep. Her heart pounded in her ribcage. She couldn't remember the last time her heart raced so quickly - it might have been that summer as a page when the bandits had fallen upon her and her friends. Maybe. Mayhap her heart hadn't beat as fast... ever.

Where had that come from? Faleron? In her mind's eye she called up his handsome, tanned face. She felt something warm lick up her body. Faleron. She gulped. This wasn't how she had expected things to go. What had happened to her crush on Neal? When had that stopped?

"Kel!" Raoul's booming voice caused her to levitate a few inches off her bed.

"Coming, sir!" She answered, throwing her legs over the side. Standing she shook her head to clear it. Once dressed she rushed into her knight master's study.

"Kel! You know Sir Faleron of King's Reach? He'll be riding with us through the dessert, we'll be dropping off at King's Reach after we stop in at Persepolis." Kel looked at her tall, dark friend who sent a smile her way and felt her heart stutter.

"That's great, Sir," she replied smoothly, secretly proud of the way in which she managed not to stutter. She gave her friend a shy smile in return and he winked at her. Raoul narrowed his eyes as she fought for her Yamani mask. With a happy sigh, she felt it slide smoothly into place. She was glad - she'd need it if Faleron was be joining them for the next few months. Interesting times were ahead, she was sure.

P.S. I have some situations and pairings already but would gladly accept ideas on them as well. Any one you can think of and anything that can happen.
