So here's my take on the phone call Grissom had with Sara (cause really who else could it have been:) at the end of 8x12. Oh and I am taking librties and assuming eveyone has scene the deleted scene of Catherine going to their place. You can see it on YouTube. Enjoy!!

Oh and I own nothing so please don't sue me, you won't get much :)

Grissom shuffled into his apartment pulling Hank along as he went. Right now all he wanted to do was a grab a bowl of his mother's chicken soup and some much needed sleep. As he neared his couch he gave into the temptation sit down and put his feet up. After all the kitchen was looking like it was miles away at the moment. He was just about to sit back and put his feet up when his phone started to ring.

"The meaning of sick leave is that I'm sick and people should leave me alone," he thought as debated over answering the phone. If it was someone from the lab chances are they needed his help with something and he was too exhausted. He was about to just let it ring when something told him to look at the caller ID. When he saw Sara's name a warm feeling spread throughout his body that had nothing to do with the flu. He may feel like death warmed over (A/N: A very SEXY death warmed over ;) but right now it didn't matter because Sara was calling. He leaned back into the couch before answering.

"Hey,"

"Gilbert Anthony Grissom, don't hey me. This was a test call! You're supposed to be sleeping," Sara said trying to sound mad but her laughter floated down the line.

Grissom chuckled.

"Well honey I was trying to sleep. Really I was. You would have been proud of me. Ecklie called earlier and I didn't answer. After all I never take sick leave and he should know not to call."

"Well if you ignored his call then why aren't you still sleeping?"

"Well he had the Deputy DA calling me non stop as well as Catherine. Then she stopped by, so did Catherine and later Brass and I had to go to court and so that's why I'm not asleep. I actually just got back from walking Hank and was just about to lay down when you called. But trust me, this has been the best distraction from sleep I've had all day," Grissom said a smile firmly implanted on his face."

Sara chuckled.

"Where's my baby? Is he there?"

"Oh so your already sick of hearing my voice," Grissom teased.

Hank, who had long ago realized his mother was on the phone, was lying on floor next to the couch.

"Gilbert just put him on the phone."

"Yes ma'am," Grissom said as he hit the speaker phone button.

"Hank it's your mom," he said placing the phone back on the table.

"Hey baby!"

Hank barked excitedly at hearing his mother's voice.

"I need you to take care of daddy for me. He supposed to be resting. If anyone from work calls I give you permission to hide his phone ok?" Hank barked an affirmative and Grissom laughed. Their dog had a knack for hiding things. If he knew they were going out and he didn't want to be left in the house alone he'd often hide their car keys among other things.

"Thanks a lot hon, you know what happened the last time he hid my phone. It took my 3 days to find it and when I did it was covered in dog drool."

"Your welcome. Now if you promise to rest they'll be no need for Hank to confiscate your phone."

"Okay, okay I promise. Scouts honor."

"Okay well I'm gonna hold you do that. I love you and try to get some sleep ok?"

"I will, and I love you too."

"Night Gilbert and I'll see you soon."

Grissom hung up the phone feeling better than he had in months despite having a raging case of the flu. He had been talking with Sara earlier in the week and knew it wouldn't be much longer till she came home.

Happy and content he closed his eyes and welcomed the much needed sleep.

Thanks for taking the time to read my little ficlet and as always please review and let me know how I did :).
