This story is a response to a quotes challenge made by xelusivexmemoriesx. The quote is "What is the point of having 455 copies of a book?" which the challenger made up themselves.

Books

Hermione was just coming out of the library when she saw her boyfriend, Draco Malfoy, coming towards her. She smiled at him and decided to wait for him to catch up, which he did. He looked at all the books, reading the titles of them.

"Standard Book of Spells, Standard Book of Spells: Revised Addition, Standard Book of Spells: Updated, What is the point of having 455 copies of a book?" he asked as he looked at the books and shook his head at the number of copies she had.

"Actually it's only 12 copies, not 455 and I need to make sure I know all of the spells! I mean what would be the point in only learning half of them?

"Erm… maybe because you're never going to use the majority of spells?"

"But what if the one spell I don't know I need?"

"Then you've been outsmarted by a book, perhaps?"

Hermione rolled her eyes at Draco and carried on walking; he decided to walk with her for a while. "So what have you been doing then?" she asked him.

"Just talking to Crabbe and Goyle about Potions," he replied.

"What about it?" she asked.

"Do you really need to know everything?"

"Yes."

Draco laughed "We were just discussing the homework Professor Snape set."

"You don't understand it again, do you?"

"How did you know that?"

"You said it yourself, Malfoy. I know everything."

"Very true Granger, very true. But if you know everything what do you need 455 copies of the same book for?"

"Well I have to make sure I haven't missed anything!"

"But still, Hermione! It's way too many!"

"You can never have too many books!"

"Actually you can…"

"Whatever."

They had reached the Gryffindor Common Room and Hermione quickly kissed Draco before going through the portrait hole. Draco smiled when she kissed him and sighed at the thought of having to wait until she had read all of those books before he could see her again. He then turned round and wandered back to his own Common Room to find Crabbe and Goyle again.
