It was as though they were shaped for one another.
Gojyo was fire, ravenous and tempestuous, infatuated and reckless, curling around anything that reached it and devouring that which fought against it. Hungry, swallowing, burning.
Sanzo was water. Melancholy and cold, wrapped up in isolation of his own choosing, rain on the river, yet all sound and fury when the typhoon was loosed. Fierce and destructive, frozen and numb, turbulent and tumultuous.
Hakkai smiled into Sanzo's hair as he felt Gojyo's large hand brush his hip.
And him? The sand that buried fire's ardour and rose through water. The mountain that held the secret of fire in its heart and felt the tears of water on its peak. The oil that bound the fire and the water together- and ignited.
