Betrayer to the Light
I went back in time, to the time when Tom Marvolo Riddle attended to Hogwarts in his fifth year.
It was solely an accident, truly. There was a stone, which had been stolen from Nicolas Flammel. It took me to his home, in the past. Thought the time travel, I lost all my memory of my former self. Due the fact I had forgotten just above everything, we created a new name for me. I became Alex Salutor.
Seeing that I had to enter school, Nicolas and I enrolled me to Hogwarts, where I entered my fifth year. It took few minutes to deem me to be a Slytherin. Anyway, I met Tom Riddle there, and we became friends. Had I kept my memory, I would probably have cursed him to hell and back.
I became Tom's friend, his only friend. The others were more like inferior to him. I became his brother. His brother in all but blood. He had my loyalty as from now to forever.
At the end of the year, I received the message from Nicolas. The stone was set to return me home to my time. I had promised Nicolas not to tell anyone about the fact that I was time traveling, but in the end, I couldn't help it. I told Tom everything I knew, and in the end, we agreed that I should return to him when I was back. We parted with one last gift to each other. Mine was the snake I had brought, Nagini, and his was a locket with magical powers.
I returned back to my time, only to discover that I should curse fate. She must really hate me, because Tom, my best friend, was now my enemy. I was Harry Bloody Potter, the boy who lived, Golden Gryffindor, and Voldemort's top one target to kill.
It was my fate to kill Tom, apparently. But I knew I could not do it. He was my friend, and he had my loyalty above all. In the end, I did the one thing I could.
I went to a Death Eater meeting, and received the Dark Mark. I swore him my loyalty.
Today, the one thing I feared happened. It was in potions, at the end of the day. We Gryffindors were with Slytherins, of course. The lesson was as normal, with me actually caring about the potion I made. But then, of course, it happened.
Tom called a meeting. Snape had just dismissed the lesson, and I was a bit late packing away my things. The others had already left. It was just me and Snape in the classroom.
A stab of pain went through my left arm, or more precisely, my mark. I grabbed my left arm with my right, only to look up and see my actions mirrored by my professor.
I always knew Snape to be a spy, and therefore always wore masks to hide his thoughts and emotions from everyone. But, heck! He has lost all of them, and the look on his face was one of defeating horror and shock. He knew what was on my left arm. He knew I was a traitor, because of joining the Dark Lord when you're supposed to kill him is an act of ultimate treason.
I read his face easily, because he was too shocked to hide anything.
"Why?" Was all he could utter silently.
"Because of who he is to me and our friendship which reaches beyond anything else" I said, before leaving quickly, to get my Death Eater clothing.
Harry Potter, the boy destined to kill the Dark Lord, had just betrayed the Wizarding World by joining the man he once hated above all.
I was a traitor to the Light.
Author's note:
Hope you don't hate it, and that it is too short or something.
Uh, half of the credit of the story should go to Niger Aguila, who wrote Learn from History & Friend or Foe.
Reviews are, as always, welcomed.
